Abhaibhubejhr sits in Prachinburi town, just a few minutes from the city centre. It's the grounds of Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital, which has been developing Thai traditional medicine and herbal know-how for so long that it has become both a learning centre and a check-in spot for anyone passing through. Everything is gathered in one place: the European-style yellow museum building that serves as the landmark, a herb garden to stroll through, an herbal pharmacy, a cosmetics and souvenir shop, plus a cafe and a spa. The draw is that it's easy to walk around, the air is shady and cool, and the souvenirs are sold at factory prices straight from the maker.
The Yellow Museum Building — The Photo Landmark
The Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr building is a yellow European baroque-style hall, built back in the reign of King Rama V. It once welcomed royal visits and served as an office, and today it's the Abhaibhubejhr Museum of Thai Traditional Medicine, displaying the story of Thai medicines, old medical texts, and traditional medical instruments. Outside, it's a popular photo spot — the yellow against the green lawn comes out well from every angle. Entry to the museum is free, open roughly 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Best time for photos
Morning light before 10 a.m. and the late afternoon are softer than midday — the yellow building takes on a warm tone and the crowds are still thin.

Booking online ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide is usually cheaper than the gate and skips the queue. Pick only the experiences you actually want — prices and availability are shown live on each site.
The Herb Garden — Meet the Plants That Became Medicine
Around the grounds there's a herb garden planted with many kinds of Thai medicinal plants, each with a sign giving its name and uses. You can walk through and see what andrographis, turmeric, plai, aloe vera, or fingerroot — names we all know — actually look like in real life. It's a good place to bring kids to learn, shady and easy to walk with no need to rush, and it helps you understand why this is Thailand's herb town.
- Andrographis (fa thalai chon) — Abhaibhubejhr's star plant, known to many from the COVID years; see the real thing growing in the garden
- Turmeric & plai — the main ingredients in the balms and herbal creams sold in the shop
- Aloe vera — the base for several gels and skincare products
- Butterfly pea & roselle — the pretty-coloured flowers that turn up as drinks in the cafe
The Garden Cafe — Cool Herbal Drinks
Inside the Abhaibhubejhr Day Spa (the green building on the inner left as you come through the entrance gate) there's a small drinks cafe focused on healthy options — tea, coffee, smoothies, and herbal drinks. It's a comfortable spot to sit and sip something cold and rest your legs after shopping, with a shadier, quieter feel than a cafe in town. The cafe and the dining room on the cuisine side open daily, roughly 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Iced Milk Tea
The cafe's most popular order, sweetened just right, around 60 THB
Butterfly Pea Limeade
A pretty purple, sharp and refreshing, made from butterfly pea flowers grown on site, about 45 THB
Healthy Options
Riceberry dishes, fruit smoothies, and healthy snacks to choose from
Straight talk
The cafe here is a small corner inside the spa building, not a styled-out trendy cafe like the ones in town. The selling point is the herbal drinks and the garden setting rather than how Instagrammable the place is. If you're hunting for a pure photo cafe, you may need to adjust your expectations a little.
Pho Ngern Pharmacy — Real Thai-Medicine Consultations
The Pho Ngern Osot herbal pharmacy is a spot people come specifically for. Thai traditional doctors and pharmacists are on hand to advise and to put together remedies for your symptoms — pills, decoctions, and tonics. Anyone who wants to try treating something with herbs or has questions about the medicine can ask here; it's not just grab and pay. That's the charm that sets Abhaibhubejhr apart from an ordinary souvenir shop.
Souvenirs — Inhalers, Balms & Factory-Price Herbal Cosmetics
This is the main reason a lot of people stop by. The Abhaibhubejhr health shop sells at factory prices straight from the maker, cheaper than buying outside. The range covers everything from home-medicine-cabinet staples to skincare cosmetics. Bring a little extra cash — most people plan to buy just a few things and walk out carrying a big bag.
Herbal Inhalers & Balms
The number-one souvenir hit — herbal-scented, easy to carry, and you can buy a stack to hand out. Almost everyone grabs a few on the way out.
Herbal Creams & Serums
Skincare made from aloe vera, turmeric, and herbal extracts — face creams, sunscreens, and serums all included.
Herbal Soap & Shampoo
Turmeric soap, tamarind soap, butterfly-pea and kaffir-lime shampoo — natural scents, good for using yourself and giving away.
Andrographis & Herbal Capsules
A standout product line here — andrographis, turmeric, and other herbal capsules at factory prices, cheaper than ordinary shops.
Toothpaste & Yellow Oil
Herbal salt toothpaste and yellow oil for aches and stiffness — household items worth stocking up on.
Herbal Teas & Honey
Lemongrass tea, pandan tea, butterfly-pea tea, and real honey — light, easy-to-carry souvenirs for the health-minded.
Shopping tip
Best-sellers like the inhalers and certain creams sell out fast over long weekends. If you're coming to buy a lot, arrive in the morning or on a weekday — stock is fuller and you'll have time to browse comfortably without fighting for a spot in the checkout line.
Spa & Herbal Massage — If You Have Time Left
If you want to keep unwinding, the Abhaibhubejhr Day Spa offers herbal massage and spa treatments — foot massage, oil massage, therapeutic massage, plus facials and body scrubs. Call ahead to book if you're going on a weekend, as the queue tends to be full. The therapeutic spa side opens roughly Wednesday–Sunday, while the cafe and dining room are open every day.
Getting There & Planning Your Visit
- Location — in Mueang Prachinburi district, Tha Ngam subdistrict; about a 2-hour drive from Bangkok via the motorway and Route 304/319
- Parking — there's a car park on the hospital grounds; easy and free
- Time needed — half a day is about right for photos, shopping, and a coffee; allow a full day if you add a spa treatment
- Pair it with — it's not far from the town centre, so you can combine it in one day with a boat-noodle shop, a market, or the Sri Maha Bodhi tree
