If you want to know what a truly enduring Bangkok cocktail bar looks like, Vesper on Convent Road in Silom is the answer. It has made the Asia's 50 Best Bars list every single year since 2016, earning the Remy Martin Legend of the List Award in 2025, and it sits at No.29 in Asia on the latest ranking. Opened back in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Choti and Debby Leenutaphong of the Foodie Collection group, Vesper was one of the outfits that helped kick off Bangkok's modern cocktail wave. This is not a here-today bar riding a trend; it is a spot serious drinkers have been recommending to each other for a decade.

The drink to order is The Vesper, the house take on the classic, which comes in three styles and stays on the menu for good. The White Matcha Negroni reworks the Negroni with pistachio matcha and white chocolate for something softer and deeper, while the Banana Pancake Sour folds rye whisky, sherry, salted roasted banana and Punt e Mes into one glass. For a full Thai hit, the Mama Sour riffs on tom yum instant noodles with vodka, chilli honey, lime and tom yum aromatics. Cocktails start around 400 baht a glass, which is fair for a bar at this level.

The room feels like a Milanese aperitivo lounge dropped into the middle of Silom: a green marble counter, leather banquettes, warm wood panels and shelves lined with gin, whisky and amari. Vesper began life as an Italian restaurant before splitting into a dedicated bar and a Mediterranean dining room called Via Maris, so the cocktails pair beautifully with tapas. Getting there is easy: take the BTS to Sala Daeng or the MRT to Silom, then walk a few minutes into Convent Road. Friday and Saturday evenings fill up, so booking ahead is the safe move.
