🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

Cafes in Bueng Kan fall into clear groups. The first is in-town spots, not far from the main road and the hotels — handy for a morning stop before you head out, or to duck out of the afternoon heat. The second is Mekong riverside cafes that sell the view of the water and the Laos side first and foremost, prettiest in the late afternoon as the sun goes down. The last group sits among the rice fields and rubber plantations on the edge of town — you'll need to drive out a bit, but the open air comes free with it.

Most drinks run about ฿50–90, with specialty coffee or some signature menus moving up to ฿90–120, and cakes or bakery items around ฿60–120 a piece. Prices are friendly compared with the bigger tourist towns.

Straight talk

A lot of Bueng Kan cafes close in the late afternoon, around 17:00, so if you want somewhere for the evening, keep Nakee Meemon or Danhin Phu Thok in mind. Weekend-only spots like Raluek Cafe n' Camp open Friday to Sunday only and will be shut if you come on a weekday. We'd recommend checking each cafe's page before you head out every time, because in a small town the hours shift often.

Mekong Riverside Cafes with Laos Views

Bueng Kan's selling point that you can't get from other towns is the Mekong. The riverside cafes and chill-out spots cluster along the riverfront road in town. What you get is the wide river and the distant hills on the Laos side. The prettiest time is the late afternoon before sunset, when the sky changes colour and reflects off the water. Midday, the sun is harsh and hot, so go for a covered zone.

Riverside

Lae Khong View

A riverside chill-out spot in the Ban Tha Khrai area, with drinks, food, and photo corners right by the water. Prettiest in the late afternoon as the sun drops — good for catching the river breeze as evening comes on.

Riverside

The riverfront road in town

Along the riverfront road in the centre of town there's a run of coffee shops and chill-out spots lined up one after another — walk and pick whichever you like. Good to pair with an evening stroll along the Mekong.

Riverside, out of town

Landscape Camping Cafe

A riverside camp cafe about 30-odd kilometres out of town, with a full view of the river and the hills on the Laos side. There are several seating zones, and the standout is the waffles — crisp outside, soft inside. Open 08:00–18:00.

About the river view

In the dry season (roughly March–May) the Mekong drops far enough to reveal sandbars and rocky islets, giving a completely different view from the rainy and cool seasons when the water is full to the banks. Both are lovely in their own way, but if you want the river full, come at the end of the rains into the start of the cool season.

Cafes Among Rice Fields and Rubber Plantations

Bueng Kan is rubber country — drive just a little out of town and you hit rubber plantations lined up in rows as far as the eye can see. This group of cafes plays on the open atmosphere of the rice fields and rubber groves, with cool, easy air in the morning and evening. Good for anyone who wants to escape the in-town spots and get a wide-open space to breathe deeply in.

  • 419 Na Nuea Cafe — the rice-field option closest to town, just a few minutes' drive, with both the field view and proper food.
  • Raluek Cafe n' Camp — open-air camping vibes on the weekend, breezy and easy out of town.
  • De Minimal Cafe & Resort — a minimal cafe-with-rooms in the Bueng Khong Long area, good for anyone touring around Bueng Khong Long who wants a stop-off. Open 08:00–17:00.
  • Kwang Khun Yao Cafe — a cafe inside a resort in the Pak Khat area, with lots of space and plenty of seating zones. Good for families or larger groups. Open daily 08:00–18:00.

If you really want the full rubber-plantation view, you don't always have to be inside a cafe. On the drive to the out-of-town cafes or up to Phu Thok–Phu Sing, both sides of the road are continuous rubber groves — just pull over and shoot from the roadside in the morning or evening light.

How to Pick a Cafe to Suit Your Trip

  • Short on time, staying in town — go for ETC.Coffee Bar, Roo-Seuk-Dee, or Text. Coffee, all in town and easy to reach.
  • Want the river view at dusk — head to Lae Khong View or stroll the riverfront road, and aim for just before sunset.
  • Have a car, want open air — 419 Na Nuea, or Landscape Camping Cafe by the river out of town.
  • Visiting Phu Thok — stop at Danhin Cafe Phu Thok along the way; it stays open late into the evening.
  • Want somewhere for the evening — Nakee Meemon is open until 20:00, a rare find in a small town.
