Chonburi & Pattaya With Kids
3 Days That Keep the Little Ones Happy

Pattaya and the wider Chonburi area are packed with things for kids to do — big water parks, an open zoo where you can feed giraffes, a botanical garden with an elephant show, and Koh Larn, an island just half an hour away by boat. We've laid this out as a 3-day, 2-night plan, paced so kids don't burn out, alternating splash-around days with slower walking days. Times and rough ticket prices are included (double-check on site, since they do go up).

Chonburi & Pattaya With Kids 3 Days That Keep the Little Ones Happy

🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

Before we dive in, here's the big picture. Younger kids (under 6) usually get more out of the zoo, feeding animals and shallow water than they do from big rides, while older kids can take on the water park slides at full speed. So this plan covers both. Day one is all about the water, day two gives sunburn a break with the zoo in the morning and Nong Nooch Garden in the afternoon, and the last day closes with a half day on Koh Larn before heading home. Driving yourself is by far the easiest option since a lot of these spots are outside town. No car? A day-hire van or Grab works fine too.

Day 1

Full day at the water park + an evening on the beach

09:30
Enter Ramayana Water Park (on Sukhumvit Road, just before Nong Nooch)The biggest water park in Pattaya, with a shallow zone for little ones, a wave pool, and slides for older kids. Walk-up tickets run about ฿1,190 for adults and around ฿890 for kids 91–121 cm; children under 106 cm get in free. Booking online ahead is usually cheaper, around ฿799.
12:30
Lunch inside the water parkThere are restaurants and lockers on site. Pack a spare swimsuit and kids' sunscreen.
15:30
Leave the park, head back to the hotel to shower and restAfter a full day in the water, kids start to fade. Let them rest before dinner.
18:00
Evening stroll on Jomtien Beach, then dinnerJomtien is quieter than Pattaya Beach and good for letting kids run around on the sand. There are plenty of seafood spots and made-to-order restaurants along the front to choose from.

About the water parks

If you want the cartoon theme, go for Columbia Pictures Aquaverse (formerly Cartoon Network Amazone, which changed owners and theme in late 2022). Tickets are pricier at around ฿1,400–1,890, but kids who love the characters will be thrilled. Ramayana, meanwhile, is bigger and better value. Pick just one — a single day is more than enough to fill up on either.

Day 2

Khao Kheow Zoo in the morning + Nong Nooch in the afternoon

08:30
Enter Khao Kheow Open Zoo (Sriracha district)An open zoo where the animals roam large enclosures. Kids can feed giraffes and hippos and watch the penguin parade. Open 08:00–18:00, with admission around ฿250 for adults and ฿100 for kids. Go early while it's still cool and the animals are active.
11:00
Catch an animal show at the zooThere are several show times through the day — check the schedule on site, since weekday and weekend timings differ.
13:00
Lunch, then move on to Nong Nooch Garden (Sattahip district)The drive from Khao Kheow to Nong Nooch takes about 40–50 minutes.
14:30
Walk Nong Nooch Garden and catch the elephant and cultural showsA large botanical garden with a French garden, a model dinosaur valley that kids love, and an elephant show. Open 08:00–18:00, with a tram to take you around if walking gets too much.
18:30
Head back into Pattaya for dinnerIf the kids still have energy, stop by a night market or a moo kratha (Thai BBQ) buffet that older kids tend to love.

Koh Larn — the easiest beach trip with kids

Koh Larn is just a 30–45 minute boat ride from Bali Hai Pier (the speedboat is faster). It's the closest beach to Pattaya with water far clearer than the beaches in town. Tawaen Beach is the popular one, with restaurants, deck chairs and rental rings — great for kids since the water is shallow and the facilities are all there. If you want somewhere quieter, head to Samae Beach or Nual Beach.

  • Regular passenger ferry — fares run about ฿30–40 per person one way, leaving from Bali Hai Pier and taking around 30–45 minutes. Little ones should wear a life vest.
  • Speedboat — faster but pricier, and a good shout if you're travelling in a group and want to save time.
  • Return trip — check the last boat times carefully so you don't get carried away and miss it. Bring small cash too, since some spots only take cash.
Day 3

Half day on Koh Larn + the aquarium before you leave

08:30
Boat from Bali Hai Pier to Koh Larn, Tawaen BeachGoing early gets you good shade before the crowds. Rent a ring and a chair so the kids can play in the shallows.
11:30
Seafood lunch on the beach, then the boat back to the mainlandLeave time for the return boat and to rinse off and change the kids.
14:30
Stop by Underwater World Pattaya before the drive homeA shark tunnel, a starfish touch pool, and koi feeding — kids love it. Open 09:00–18:00 (ticket sales close at 17:30), with admission around ฿500 for adults; children 89 cm or under get in free. It takes about 2 hours, which fits nicely before you drive back.
17:00
Set off homeAvoid leaving during the Sunday rush hour — if you're heading back to Bangkok, the motorway gets busy on weekend evenings.

Tips for surviving Pattaya with kids

  • Book a hotel with a pool — on days the kids are worn out by the sun, the hotel pool is a great swap that saves both energy and money.
  • Pack sun protection and water — the Pattaya sun is strong, so always keep kids' sunscreen, hats and drinking water on hand.
  • Start early, finish in the afternoon — the zoo and water parks are cooler and less crowded in the morning, then break for a midday nap.
  • Budget kids' tickets by height — many places charge by height, not age, so have your kids' heights ready to work out the cost.

If you only have 2 days

Drop the water park day and keep just the Khao Kheow Zoo–Nong Nooch day plus the Koh Larn day — you'll still get a fun family trip that doesn't wear everyone out.

FAQ

How many days should I spend in Pattaya with kids?

3 days and 2 nights is about right — you fit in the water park, the zoo, Nong Nooch and Koh Larn without cramming. If you only have 2 days, choose between the water park day and the Koh Larn day, and keep Khao Kheow Zoo and Nong Nooch together on the other day.

Which Pattaya water park is best for young kids?

Ramayana Water Park has a shallow zone for little ones and is good value, while Columbia Pictures Aquaverse (formerly Cartoon Network Amazone) leans into its cartoon theme and suits kids who love the characters. Either one fills a full day on its own.

Is it safe to take kids to Koh Larn?

It's safe with a bit of prep. Little ones should wear a life vest on the boat and only swim in the shallow, supervised zones. Tawaen Beach has all the facilities and works well for families — and don't forget to check the last boat time before heading back.

How much is admission to Khao Kheow Open Zoo?

Admission is around ฿250 for adults and ฿100 for kids (the Thai rate, which can change, so check on site). It's open 08:00–18:00, with several animal shows and giraffe feeding that kids love. Go in the morning while it's cooler and the animals are active.

Can I visit Chonburi with the family without a car?

Yes, but a lot of the spots are outside Pattaya, so a day-hire van with a driver or using Grab is more convenient with kids and luggage than the local songthaews — especially on the day you visit Khao Kheow Zoo and Nong Nooch, which are in different directions.
