The idea behind this plan is to spend the first day's midday at Monsoon Valley vineyard outside town, then loop back into the city to finish on a rooftop at sunset, followed by dinner by the sea. The second day is more relaxed — a café, the beach, then a night market to close things out if you happen to be there on a Friday to Sunday. Having your own car or a rental makes this the smoothest, since several spots sit outside the town centre and public transport isn't very convenient.
Before you set off
Room rates and tour prices in Hua Hin swing quite a bit with the season and long weekends. November to February and public holidays get busy and prices climb. If you're booking a table at a beachfront restaurant or a rooftop bar during that period, reserve 2–4 days ahead — especially for the front-row tables right by the water.
Day 1 — From the hillside vineyard to a beachfront dinner
Vineyard · Rooftop · Beachfront dinner
Day one keeps the midday outside town, then gradually loops you back to finish in the city in the evening. The nice thing about this rhythm is that you don't have to drive far at night, and you get both the hillside views by day and the sea views by night, all in one day.
Book the activities in your Hua Hin trip ahead
Booking online ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide is usually cheaper than the gate and skips the queue. Pick only the experiences you actually want — prices and availability are shown live on each site.
Romantic dinner spots and bars that couples love
Baan Dum Oceanfront Seafood
A seafood spot in an old Thai house right on the beach, with tables set on the sand facing west — which is why it's so popular for dinner during the last light. Couples love to grab a front-row table before sunset.
Vana Nava Sky Bar
A rooftop atop the Holiday Inn, the tallest in town, with panoramic Gulf of Thailand views and the hills behind. Great for a cocktail at sunset — open from around 17:30 till late.
White Lotus Rooftop Bar
On the 17th floor of the Hilton Hua Hin, with views of both the sea and the city lights at night. The mood is smart and understated — good for a special night or an anniversary.
The Sala Wine Bar & Bistro
Inside the Monsoon Valley vineyard, serving fusion dishes paired with the estate's own wine, looking out over the green hills. A good lunch on day one while you're touring the vineyard.
Anantasila Beach Restaurant
A beachfront seafood spot in the Khao Takiab area with a relaxed mood and views of Khao Takiab and the sea. Good for couples who want a less formal beach dinner.
Chaolay Seafood
A long-running seafood restaurant that juts out on a pier over the water in the centre of town. Eat prawns, shellfish, crab and fish to the sound of the waves at prices that won't sting — popular with both Thais and foreign visitors.
Coast Beach Club & Bistro
A beachfront eat-and-drink club with both a beach seating area and a bar. Good for couples who want a chilled, semi-party vibe rather than a quiet dinner.
Big Fish & Bar
A beachfront restaurant belonging to a resort group, with both seafood and international menus. The tables right by the water have a calm, quiet feel — good for an understated, upscale dinner.
Straight talk
The per-person prices above are rough ranges based on typical menu orders. If you go for lobster or a big crab, the bill climbs further. Most beachfront places charge by the actual weight of the seafood — we'd suggest asking the price per kilo before ordering, so you don't get a shock at the bill.
Day 2 — Café, beach, then closing out at a night market
Café · Khao Takiab · Night market
Day two is paced lighter than the first, so anyone who went hard all of day one has time to rest. If you don't come on a Friday to Sunday, Cicada and Tamarind markets are closed — swap in the night market in the town centre, which is open every day. It's a different atmosphere but just as packed with food.
Things couples should know before they go
- Hua Hin beach waves and wind — at times, especially during the monsoon, the waves and wind get strong and there are currents. Always check the beach warning flags before going in, and if you see a red flag, stay out of the water.
- Khao Takiab monkeys — there are lots of monkeys and they're bold around people. Watch out for them snatching food, bags, sunglasses and phones; keep your things tucked away and don't feed them.
- Prices swing with the season — rooms, tours and tables at the popular restaurants jump sharply from November to February and over long weekends. If you go then, book ahead.
- Several spots are outside town — the vineyard and some cafés are far from the town centre, and public transport isn't convenient. Having your own car or a rental makes things much smoother.
- Opening hours shift with the season — the vineyard restaurant and some night markets only open on certain days or adjust their hours seasonally. Double-check on the spot or on the venue's page before you go.
