Hua Hin for Couples
Vineyard–Rooftop–Beach Dinner

Hua Hin is an easy town to visit as a couple — it's only about two and a half hours' drive from Bangkok, yet it packs in a vineyard tucked into the hills, rooftop bars for sunset, and seafood places that set their tables right on the sand. This plan runs two days and one night, paced so the rhythm flows from midday into the evening, with timings, rough prices, and a few honest things to know before you go.

Hua Hin for Couples Vineyard–Rooftop–Beach Dinner

🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

The idea behind this plan is to spend the first day's midday at Monsoon Valley vineyard outside town, then loop back into the city to finish on a rooftop at sunset, followed by dinner by the sea. The second day is more relaxed — a café, the beach, then a night market to close things out if you happen to be there on a Friday to Sunday. Having your own car or a rental makes this the smoothest, since several spots sit outside the town centre and public transport isn't very convenient.

Before you set off

Room rates and tour prices in Hua Hin swing quite a bit with the season and long weekends. November to February and public holidays get busy and prices climb. If you're booking a table at a beachfront restaurant or a rooftop bar during that period, reserve 2–4 days ahead — especially for the front-row tables right by the water.

Day 1 — From the hillside vineyard to a beachfront dinner

Day 1

Vineyard · Rooftop · Beachfront dinner

10:30
Leave town for Monsoon Valley VineyardThe vineyard is about 45 km from central Hua Hin, roughly an hour's drive. The last stretch is a small road through the hills, so take it slow if it's raining.
11:30
Walk the vineyard, sip wine, shoot the valley viewsThere are guided vineyard walks running in rounds throughout the day, plus a jeep tour up to the viewpoint (rounds at roughly 9:30, 10:45, 13:00 and 16:00). Wine-tasting sets start in the high hundreds of baht per person — double-check the latest schedule when you arrive.
13:00
Lunch at The Sala Wine Bar & Bistro in the vineyardThe on-site restaurant, where you eat alongside Monsoon Valley wine and look out over the green hills. April to October it's open until around 19:00; November to March until around 20:00.
15:00
Drive back into town, settle into the hotelLeave time to check in and rest for a bit before heading out for sunset.
17:30
Head up to a rooftop bar for sunsetVana Nava Sky atop the Holiday Inn is the tallest rooftop in town, opening around 17:30, with the Gulf of Thailand and the hills as a backdrop. Another option is White Lotus on the 17th floor of the Hilton, with city and sea views.
19:00
Beachfront seafood dinnerSeveral places set their tables right on the sand — like Baan Dum, which faces west so you catch the last light of the day. Couples like to book a front-row table for around 17:45, but come later in the evening and you'll still get the waves and the fairy lights.

Day one keeps the midday outside town, then gradually loops you back to finish in the city in the evening. The nice thing about this rhythm is that you don't have to drive far at night, and you get both the hillside views by day and the sea views by night, all in one day.

Straight talk

The per-person prices above are rough ranges based on typical menu orders. If you go for lobster or a big crab, the bill climbs further. Most beachfront places charge by the actual weight of the seafood — we'd suggest asking the price per kilo before ordering, so you don't get a shock at the bill.

Day 2 — Café, beach, then closing out at a night market

Day 2

Café · Khao Takiab · Night market

08:00
Morning coffee at a café in townVelo Cafe opens early, from around 07:30. Locals like it for the good coffee and the early start — a relaxed way to begin the day before the crowds.
09:30
Stroll Hua Hin beach in the morningEarly on the sun isn't harsh yet, so it's lovely for a walk and photos. But always check the warning flags before going in the water, because the waves and wind pick up at times and there can be currents.
11:00
Climb Khao Takiab, pay respects at the temple, take in the bayUp on Khao Takiab there's a temple and lovely viewpoints over Hua Hin bay — but watch out for monkeys grabbing things. Keep bags, sunglasses, phones and food well tucked away, and don't walk around showing off a plastic bag.
13:00
Seafood lunch in the Khao Takiab areaThe Khao Takiab strip has several beachfront seafood places, at friendlier prices than in town.
15:00
Rest, or a couples spaThe afternoon sun is strong — resting at the hotel or booking a couples spa is a popular choice for couples in Hua Hin.
18:00
Walk a night market (Fri–Sun)Cicada Market and Tamarind Market are right next to each other in the Khao Takiab area, open Friday to Sunday and on holidays from around 17:00. Cicada stands out for its art, crafts and live music, while Tamarind leans into food — you can do both in one evening. If you come on a weekday when these two are closed, head to the Hua Hin night market in the town centre instead.

Day two is paced lighter than the first, so anyone who went hard all of day one has time to rest. If you don't come on a Friday to Sunday, Cicada and Tamarind markets are closed — swap in the night market in the town centre, which is open every day. It's a different atmosphere but just as packed with food.

Things couples should know before they go

  • Hua Hin beach waves and wind — at times, especially during the monsoon, the waves and wind get strong and there are currents. Always check the beach warning flags before going in, and if you see a red flag, stay out of the water.
  • Khao Takiab monkeys — there are lots of monkeys and they're bold around people. Watch out for them snatching food, bags, sunglasses and phones; keep your things tucked away and don't feed them.
  • Prices swing with the season — rooms, tours and tables at the popular restaurants jump sharply from November to February and over long weekends. If you go then, book ahead.
  • Several spots are outside town — the vineyard and some cafés are far from the town centre, and public transport isn't convenient. Having your own car or a rental makes things much smoother.
  • Opening hours shift with the season — the vineyard restaurant and some night markets only open on certain days or adjust their hours seasonally. Double-check on the spot or on the venue's page before you go.

Rough budget per couple (2 days, 1 night)

Mid-range accommodation ฿1,500–3,500/night · fuel or a rental car around ฿1,000–1,500 · vineyard and wine around ฿1,000–1,800/couple · beachfront dinner ฿1,200–2,400/couple · rooftop ฿600–900/couple · all in, roughly ฿7,000–12,000 per couple, depending on the level of accommodation and the places you choose.

FAQ

How many days should this Hua Hin couples plan take?

This plan is set up for 2 days and 1 night, which is just right. Day one tours the vineyard outside town then loops back to finish on a rooftop and a beachfront dinner in the city; day two is a lighter rhythm of café, beach and night market. If you have 3 days, you can easily add Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park or Pa La-U Waterfall.

Do you need to book Monsoon Valley Vineyard in advance?

You can walk the vineyard and sit at the on-site restaurant without booking, but the jeep tour up to the viewpoint runs in rounds with limited seats. If you want a particular round, it's best to call to check or book ahead. The vineyard is about 45 km from town, roughly an hour's drive.

Is it safe to swim at Hua Hin beach?

Mostly you can swim, but at times — especially during the monsoon — the waves and wind get strong and there are currents. Always check the beach warning flags before going in; if you see a red flag, stay out, and don't go too far from shore.

Do you need to rent a car, or can you use public transport?

Within town you can walk and take songthaews, but the vineyard and some cafés are outside town where public transport isn't convenient. To do this whole plan, having your own car, a rental, or a private chartered car is the smoothest way.

Are Cicada and Tamarind markets open every day?

No — both markets only open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from around 17:00 in the evening. If you come on a weekday, head to the Hua Hin night market in the town centre, which is open every day.
