If you're in Hua Hin for a few days and want a break from Thai food for one meal, there are more Western options here than you'd expect. The street with the most restaurants packed together is Soi Hua Hin 51 (Soi 51), which locals call the town's restaurant street. It's about 1 km from Chatchai Market and Naresdamri Road — an easy 15-minute walk. Several of the chef-run places are spread out toward Nong Kae and Khao Takiab, a short drive or motorbike-taxi ride away.
Chatchai Market–Soi 51 is the hub for Western food
Chatchai Market is an old market in the town centre, almost 90 years old, sitting between Sasong, Phetkasem, Chomsin, and Dechanuchit roads. By day it's a fresh market; walk out toward Soi 51 and Naresdamri Road and you'll find European restaurants lined up in a row — Italian, German, steaks, burgers, all the way to wine bars. The plus is that parking is easy and you can stroll and pick from several restaurants in the same area.
- Walkable — Soi 51 to Chatchai Market is about 1 km. It's a bit hot to walk midday, but lovely in the evening.
- Book a table in high season — Nov–Feb and long weekends, the popular places fill up fast, so calling ahead is the safer bet.
- Many close in the afternoon — several Italian places open in shifts, roughly noon–2pm, then close until they reopen in the evening. Check the hours before you go.

11 Western restaurants in Hua Hin that are really open
We've ranked these by real reviews and how well they suit travellers who just want an easygoing European meal. Prices are rough numbers per dish/per person and can shift with the menu and season — wine and imported-meat dishes usually run quite a bit higher than a standard plate of pasta.
Trattoria by Andreas
An Italian spot that many reviews rate among the best in town. The chef makes genuine wood-fired pizza with a thin base and puffy crust, and the pasta and mains are made fresh — everything from margherita and quattro formaggi to burrata and grilled meats. Warm, friendly atmosphere.
La Grappa Ristorante
A central Italian-pizza restaurant open since 2003, on Poonsuk Road and walkable from Chatchai Market. The full range of Italian classics — pasta, pizza, desserts — and a good pick for a relaxed dinner in town.
Treffpunkt
One of Hua Hin's original German restaurants, open since 2005. Known for German pork knuckle, a range of sausages, and a monthly buffet at times. German residents in town actually eat here — the flavours are properly German.
Dorfstadl Restaurant & Bar
A German-Bavarian place that reviewers say tastes so authentic it's like sitting in Germany. Fair prices for the quality — a good pick if you want serious German food without paying a lot.
Coco51 Restaurant & Bar
A beachfront restaurant at the far end of Soi Hua Hin 51, serving European, Thai, and seafood. There's a seafront terrace strung with lights and live music in the evening — good for a romantic dinner with a sea view, just a few minutes by tuk-tuk from the centre. Some reviews say prices run a bit high for the portion, so think before you over-order.
Irene Restaurant
A Swiss-German restaurant whose menu leans on both cuisines. Reviews praise the Swiss and German dishes as tasty and reasonably priced — a good pick if you want to try schnitzel and Swiss plates in a simple setting.
Old Germany
A German restaurant locals rate highly for the schnitzel. Fair prices for foreign food in a tourist town — a filling meal for under ฿800 per person. Good if you like German-style breaded, fried meat.
Carlo Ristorante Italiano
A central Hua Hin Italian that goes well beyond pizza and pasta — a long Italian menu of pork, beef, chicken, and fish, plus a good wine list. Reviews praise the fresh pasta and the easygoing atmosphere.
L'Occitan Restaurant
A Mediterranean-French restaurant set in a green garden in the Hin Lek Fai area. Relaxed atmosphere — good if you want a quiet Mediterranean meal away from the market streets. You'll need to drive out a bit.
White Lotus @ Hilton
A Mediterranean restaurant inside the Hilton, highly rated with a nice atmosphere — good for a special meal. Reviews note it leans more toward modern Mediterranean plates than Greek-style meze or grilled-meat salads. If you want the upscale-hotel setting, this is the pick.
Burger Factory Soi 51
A small burger joint on Soi Hua Hin 51 with solid review scores — dense, freshly made patties. Good for a casual, no-fuss meal, or a stop while you wander the restaurants on the soi.
Tips for picking a spot
For authentic chef-made food, go to a place with an Italian/German owner, like Trattoria by Andreas or Treffpunkt · For a sea view with dinner, pick Coco51 · For somewhere central and walkable, La Grappa and Carlo are the easiest.
How to eat well here without overpaying
- Lunch is often better value — many Italian places have a set lunch or lighter-priced pasta compared with dinner.
- Imported meat and wine push the bill up — Australian steak or Italian wine adds up fast, so stick to pasta and pizza if you're watching the budget.
- Check recent reviews before you go — Western restaurants in Hua Hin change owners and move often, so look at the latest month's reviews and call to confirm the hours.
- Carry some cash — a few small places take cash only or have a card minimum.
What to do nearby during the day
If you're planning dinner in this area, you can easily sightsee around town during the day. Hua Hin Beach is close to the centre, but the surf can be rough some days in the monsoon — always check the warning flags before swimming. Khao Takiab has nice views and a temple, but there are lots of monkeys, so mind your belongings and don't feed them. Room and tour prices in Hua Hin swing with the season and long weekends, so book ahead if you're travelling in high season.
