Before we run through the bars one by one, let's sort out the view, because it genuinely affects where you'll want to sit. Hua Hin is a Gulf of Thailand beach that faces east toward the sea, which means in the evening the sun swings around and sets in the west — over the land and the hills, not over the open water. So if you're hoping to watch a round sun drop straight into the ocean, Hua Hin isn't that spot. But the upside of a rooftop is that the higher you go, the more you sweep in: the eastern sea turning peach as the light softens, and the western sky shifting colour as the sun slips behind the hills. Book a table facing the sea first, then turn to the opposite sky as it gets dark, and you'll catch the whole thing.
When to go
From November to February the sky is clearest and the breeze is cool. The sun sets around 18:00–18:30, so head up around 17:00–17:30 to grab an edge table and watch the light change while it's still bright. On long weekends or Saturdays and Sundays the edge tables fill up fast — calling ahead to book is the safer bet.
9 Hua Hin rooftop bars we picked
THE SKY (formerly Vana Nava Sky)
The highest bar in Hua Hin, on the 27th floor of the Holiday Inn Vana Nava, with wide-open views across the whole town and no buildings in the way. There's a clear glass balcony that juts out for slightly knee-wobbling photos, and in the early evening a DJ plays mellow tunes — busy, but not rowdy. The signature cocktail is called Andaman Beauty.
White Lotus Sky Bar — Hilton Hua Hin
A downtown rooftop that's been known for its sunset views for years, on the 17th floor of the Hilton right in central Hua Hin — an easy walk from the night market and the beach. The vibe is more laid-back than most, and you can see the Gulf and the hills behind it at the same time. Good for couples or a quiet night out.
InterContinental Hua Hin — upper poolside bar
On the south side of town near Khao Takiab, with a quiet, upscale resort feel. Sip a glass of wine looking over Hua Hin bay without the crowds — a good pick for a night when you want privacy over a party atmosphere. Prices run above average, in line with the hotel.
Let's Sea Hua Hin — beachfront bar
Not a soaring rooftop, but a popular beachfront bar where you can sip a cocktail with your feet in the sand. It's romantic in the early evening, and a good fit if you'd rather be close to the water than up high. It gets packed on weekends, so book a table.
Rooftop bars on Naret Damri Road
Hua Hin's nightlife strip has plenty of upper-floor bars scattered around — open-air, catching the breeze, with live music and prices friendlier than the hotel bars. Good for a group of friends who want to hop between a few spots in one night, since they're all within walking distance.
Air Space Rooftop — early-evening spot
A compact rooftop in town with a relaxed, casual feel — good for a cold beer in the breeze before moving on somewhere else. Locals and visitors mix here.
Boutique hotel rooftop bars near Hua Hin beach
Several beachfront boutique hotels open up their rooftops to guests and the public for a drink. The views aren't as high as a 27-storey tower, but you're close to the water and the mood is warm — good for a quieter night.
Upper-floor cafe bars in Khao Takiab
Over on the Khao Takiab side, some cafes and bars set up their top floor as open-air seating with views of the hills and the sea together. Good for the early evening, but watch out for the monkeys around the base of the hill — they like to grab food and anything in your hands, so keep your bag zipped up.
Beach clubs on the southern shore
Not a rooftop, but a beach club with seating facing the sea, canvas daybeds, and music. Good for a group that wants to settle in from the late afternoon. The wind can pick up some days, so bring a light layer.
Want to taste deeper? Try a Hua Hin food tour or cooking class
Half a day with a local who knows the lanes — or cooking a dish yourself — teaches you more than just eating. Book ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide.
What to know before heading up
- Dress code — hotel bars like THE SKY and White Lotus usually ask for smart casual, and may turn away flip-flops or sporty shorts at certain times. Check with the bar if you're not sure.
- Call to book an edge table — the best seats along the glass railing are limited and fill up fast on long weekends and Saturdays and Sundays, so book ahead to get the spot you want.
- Strong wind up high — towers of 17–27 floors are far windier than ground level, especially in the monsoon season. Pack a light layer and watch out for light items blowing away.
- Prices swing by season — in high season and over long weekends some bars set a per-table minimum or charge for the view zone. Ask before you sit down so the bill doesn't surprise you.
- Drink responsibly — if you drove yourself, plan for a non-drinking driver to get you home, or grab a taxi or hired car in town. Don't risk driving after drinking.
Travel responsibly
Enjoy the view, but you don't have to drink heavily to feel you've earned the table. Order a mocktail or a non-alcoholic drink and you can watch the sunset just the same — plenty of these places make mocktails every bit as good as their cocktails. And if you're bringing kids, check first whether the bar allows children at the time you're going, since some are age-restricted after dark.
