This is an hour-by-hour plan you can actually follow — from catching the boat at Bali Hai Pier, hitting Tawaen Beach, snorkeling, trying some water sports, and stopping at the viewpoint, all while making it back for the evening boat. Koh Larn Day Trip from Pattaya

🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

You can easily do Koh Larn in a single day if you plan the boats and timing well. The thing people get wrong most often is showing up late and hitting a packed boat or a long water-sports queue. So this plan starts a little early — that way you get the clear morning water and you're not fighting a thousand other people for a spot on the same beach.

Read this before you go

Long weekends get very busy — the morning boats fill up fast, so aim to be at Bali Hai Pier before 8am · The water around Koh Larn can turn murky on some days depending on wind and waves, so check the forecast if you want it clear · Pack your trash out and take it back to the mainland to bin, so the beach stays clean for the next group.

How to get the boat — schedules and prices

Boats to Koh Larn leave from Bali Hai Pier (at the far end of Pattaya's Walking Street, in South Pattaya). There are two main options — pick based on your budget and how much time you have.

  • Passenger ferry — 30 THB/person, takes around 30–45 min. Morning departures are roughly 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30, then there's a 10:00 run and more through the evening. Most go to Tawaen Beach. Cheap, but build in extra time.
  • Speedboat — around 150–300 THB/person (shared) and only 10–20 min. You can pick which beach to land at. Good if you're short on time and want to get there fast.
  • Boats back from Koh Larn — return ferries run roughly at 8:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. Double-check the last departure of the day and don't miss the evening boat.

Boat tips

Schedules and times change with the season and the weather, so check the pier's page or kohlarn.co again before you go · If you're a group, chartering a speedboat can work out better value and gives you more flexibility on the return time.

Book the activities in your Koh Larn trip ahead

Water sports prices — check before you play

1

Snorkeling

From ~200–400 THB/person, or included in a package

Rent a mask and life vest; a boat runs you out to the reef off the beach. Good for all ages, kids included. How clear it is depends on the weather that day.

All agesMost popular
2

Banana boat

Included in the water sports package

A fast, fun towed banana boat you ride as a group. Common in bundled packages. Wear a life vest every time.

Group fun
3

Sea walker (walking on the seabed)

Included in the B5/A package, from around 2,400 THB

You wear a glass helmet and walk along the seabed watching the fish. No swimming skills needed, and a guide stays with you the whole time.

4

Parasailing

Included in the A package, from around 2,600–2,700 THB

5

Jet ski

Watch for damage fees

Safety first

Wear a life vest for every activity and make sure the operator looks trustworthy · Jet skis are a common source of inflated damage claims — photo/video the condition of the machine before you ride and pin down the price clearly · If the sea is rough that day, push it back or skip it entirely — that's the safer call.

FAQ

Is one day enough for Koh Larn?

It's enough for 1–2 beaches and the main activities. Start early and you can fit swimming, snorkeling and a viewpoint stop. But if you want to hit every beach without rushing, staying one night is more relaxed.

What time should I go to Koh Larn?

Aim to reach Bali Hai Pier before 8am, especially on long weekends when the boats are packed and queues are long. Going early also gets you clearer water than the afternoon.

How much do Koh Larn water sports cost?

They're usually sold as bundled packages, from around 2,400–2,700 THB for a set with sea walker, parasailing, banana boat and snorkeling. Snorkeling on its own starts around 200–400 THB. Ask about the price and conditions clearly before you pay.

Is the water at Koh Larn always clear?

Not always — clarity depends on the wind and waves that day, and the water can turn murky in poor weather. Check the forecast before you go, and swim in the morning when it tends to be clearer.

Do I need to rent a vehicle on Koh Larn?

If you're only doing Tawaen Beach you can walk it, so no need. But to reach other beaches or the viewpoint, renting a motorbike (200–400 THB/day) or taking a songthaew (20–50 THB/person) is easier. Some stretches of road are steep, so ride carefully.
