You can easily do Koh Larn in a single day if you plan the boats and timing well. The thing people get wrong most often is showing up late and hitting a packed boat or a long water-sports queue. So this plan starts a little early — that way you get the clear morning water and you're not fighting a thousand other people for a spot on the same beach.
Read this before you go
Long weekends get very busy — the morning boats fill up fast, so aim to be at Bali Hai Pier before 8am · The water around Koh Larn can turn murky on some days depending on wind and waves, so check the forecast if you want it clear · Pack your trash out and take it back to the mainland to bin, so the beach stays clean for the next group.
How to get the boat — schedules and prices
Boats to Koh Larn leave from Bali Hai Pier (at the far end of Pattaya's Walking Street, in South Pattaya). There are two main options — pick based on your budget and how much time you have.
- Passenger ferry — 30 THB/person, takes around 30–45 min. Morning departures are roughly 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30, then there's a 10:00 run and more through the evening. Most go to Tawaen Beach. Cheap, but build in extra time.
- Speedboat — around 150–300 THB/person (shared) and only 10–20 min. You can pick which beach to land at. Good if you're short on time and want to get there fast.
- Boats back from Koh Larn — return ferries run roughly at 8:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. Double-check the last departure of the day and don't miss the evening boat.
Boat tips
Schedules and times change with the season and the weather, so check the pier's page or kohlarn.co again before you go · If you're a group, chartering a speedboat can work out better value and gives you more flexibility on the return time.
Book the activities in your Koh Larn trip ahead
Booking online ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide is usually cheaper than the gate and skips the queue. Pick only the experiences you actually want — prices and availability are shown live on each site.
The one-day plan, hour by hour
Here's a morning-to-evening plan that actually works on the ground. If you want it more relaxed, just cut a stop or two to suit you.

Water sports prices — check before you play
Water sports at Tawaen Beach are usually sold as bundled packages, covering everything from snorkeling and sea walking to parasailing and jet skis. The prices below are rough ranges from tour operators — ask about the price and conditions clearly before you pay.
Snorkeling
Rent a mask and life vest; a boat runs you out to the reef off the beach. Good for all ages, kids included. How clear it is depends on the weather that day.
Banana boat
A fast, fun towed banana boat you ride as a group. Common in bundled packages. Wear a life vest every time.
Sea walker (walking on the seabed)
You wear a glass helmet and walk along the seabed watching the fish. No swimming skills needed, and a guide stays with you the whole time.
Parasailing
You float up for a view of the island from above — exciting, but short. Check the condition of the gear and the operator before you go up.
Jet ski
Drive it yourself or ride on the back — fun, but pricey, and there are frequent damage-fee disputes. Agree on the price and conditions in writing before you start.
Safety first
Wear a life vest for every activity and make sure the operator looks trustworthy · Jet skis are a common source of inflated damage claims — photo/video the condition of the machine before you ride and pin down the price clearly · If the sea is rough that day, push it back or skip it entirely — that's the safer call.
Which beach suits you
Tawaen Beach
The island's main beach — busy, with restaurants and water sports all in one place. Best if you're here for the day and want everything in one spot.
Samae Beach
Quieter, with clear water — good for chilling away from the crowds, and not far from the windmill viewpoint.
Nual Beach
A small beach with pretty, clear water and not many people — good for photos and an easy swim.
Rough budget per person
- Round-trip boat — ferry ~60 THB / shared speedboat ~300–600 THB
- Beach chair + umbrella — ~100–150 THB
- Seafood lunch — ~150–350 THB/person depending on what you order
- Snorkeling + motorbike rental — ~300–600 THB
- Budget total — from around 1,000 THB/person (not counting the big water-sports packages)
