If you're walking around central Korat and want somewhere to sit and refuel on something sweet, there's more choice than you'd think. Most places cluster in the old town around Suranari, Chomsurangyat, Chumphon and Mittraphap roads — a few minutes apart by car or Grab. We've split them into three groups: dessert cafes known for cakes and drinks, bakeries that bake fresh and sell by the piece, and cold sweet shops to beat the heat.
10 dessert cafes & bakeries in central Korat
Ordered roughly by how often people talk about them and how solid the reviews are. Each place has its own character — see which one fits your mood.
De Forest Cafe & Bakery
One of the first dessert cafes that comes to mind for Korat locals. Known for big cups of bingsu and a range of cakes — when mango season hits, the fresh mango kakigori draws a very long queue. Roomy and comfy, good for groups.
Faifo Oldtown Cafe & Floral
A cafe in an old shophouse in the heart of the old town on Chumphon Road, decked out in a vintage-and-flowers style that photographs beautifully. The standout menu items are the matcha croissant and the strawberry-cheese cruffin.
KASEM Coffee
A coffee-and-homemade-cake spot that dessert lovers trust — banana cake, burnt cheesecake, orange cake, and caramel coffee with nuts. A relaxed daytime place that doesn't get too crowded.
Rosie.nak
Matcha fans, this is your stop. Decorated in clean whites, with a full green-tea lineup spanning drinks, bakery and ice cream. The signature is the matcha banoffee — if you like your green tea strong, you'll be happy here.
Na Bueng Coffee
A cafe by the Bueng Ta Lua water park where you can sit in the breeze all day. Known for its Basque cheesecake and blueberry cheesecake, with bakery, drinks and savoury dishes too. Good for bringing the family for a long sit.
La-Moon Cafe
A leafy cafe on Suranari Road that feels like sitting in someone's back garden, with easy-on-the-wallet prices. The standouts are the fresh-milk green tea and the blueberry cheesecake — a handy stop mid-stroll around town.
Vera Cafe & Gallery
A small gallery cafe where the cakes are the star — red velvet, banoffee pie and cheesecake, with friendly starting prices. Good for anyone who likes to sit quietly with a coffee and a favourite slice.
Sweet Days (Sueb Siri)
A garden dessert spot in the Sueb Siri area. The hits are big cups of bingsu, honey toast, and chocolate lava cake, at easygoing prices. It's been a long-time favourite with Korat's younger crowd.
So Far So Good
A dessert shop across from the big market, famous for a chocolate sphere that melts when hot sauce is poured over it — you'll want to film it. There's ice cream and toast too, and it's a sweet little corner most people haven't found yet.
Baan Khanom Thai (Soi Chan area)
For genuinely traditional Thai sweets, this place makes old-style desserts, sticky-rice snacks and coconut cake at very low prices — great to take home or as a light gift to bring back.
Tip
Homemade cakes at the popular spots are often made in limited batches and sell out before evening. If you want a signature like the Basque cheesecake or mango kakigori, go in the early afternoon when the selection is fuller.

Fresh bakeries you can take away

Srifa Bakery, Korat branch
A legendary Isan bakery with filled breads, cookies and cakes at friendly prices — perfect to grab as a gift to bring home.
Chicky Bakery & Cafe
A custom-cake shop with a storefront selling cake slices and coffee, near the central stadium. Good for ordering a birthday cake or grabbing a small slice to snack on.
To Kiss Homemade Cake
A homemade cake shop in the Sueb Siri area, baking fresh every day with a focus on cake slices and pastries. Good for anyone who prefers a not-too-sweet flavour.
A one-day dessert crawl around the city
If you've got half a day to a full day and want to tick off several dessert spots, try this route. It works from the old town outward toward the water park — the distances are short, and you can hop between them easily by car or Grab.

Honest notes before you go
- Most places are in the old town but spread across different roads. Without your own car, it's easier to Grab between them than to walk.
- Signature items sell out fast. Popular homemade cakes and bingsu are usually made in limited batches — go late and you may miss out, so aim for the early afternoon.
- Weekends get crowded. The well-known cafes have long queues on Saturday and Sunday. For a relaxed sit, go on a weekday or right at opening.
- Check opening hours before you head out. Some shops close on Mondays or shift their hours by season — call or check the shop's page first to be sure.
