Pattaya and Jomtien stretch in a long line along a bay that faces west, so evening is the golden hour for this town. Some people like sitting on the sand with their feet in the water; others want to look down on the whole bay from a tall building. So we split the list into three groups: feet-in-the-sand beach clubs, rooftops on tall buildings, and easygoing beachfront bars. Pick whatever matches the mood that day. Prices are rough figures from recent menus and can change, so double-check at the venue.
Feet-in-the-Sand Beach Clubs
This group is for settling in from afternoon till evening — pools, beachfront daybeds, DJs. Most don't charge entry if you're eating or drinking, but if you book a daybed or cabana there's usually a minimum spend.
Cave Beach Club
A boho-style beach club on Jomtien Beach that's relaxed and easygoing, with the view opening straight out to sea. The sunset angle here is genuinely lovely for the price, and reviewers like that the vibe is more chilled than the big clubs — no need to dress up.
Alexa Beach Club
A large beach club under the Pinnacle Grand Jomtien with a roughly 600 sqm infinity pool, beachfront daybeds, several bars, and both Thai and international DJs. Good for a lively day-party crowd. Free entry if you sit at the restaurant or bar; daybeds come with a minimum spend.
Fish Club — Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach
The beachside bar and seafood grill at the Andaz by Hyatt on Na Jomtien Beach. The draw is grilled seafood with a sunset view, and a DJ comes on after dark. Prices are hotel-level, but you get good food and a quieter setting than the Pattaya city side.
Surf & Turf Beach Club
A Mediterranean-style spot right on Wong Amat Beach on the Naklua–North Pattaya side, known for its steaks and a quiet stretch of sand away from the chaos, with live music in the evening. If you want an outdoor table at sunset, book ahead.
Daybed Booking Tip
Big beach clubs like Alexa usually charge a minimum spend per daybed rather than a flat rental fee. If you're a group that plans to eat and drink anyway, you'll hit the minimum easily. If it's just two of you, sitting in the regular restaurant section is better value.
Want to taste deeper? Try a Chonburi food tour or cooking class
Half a day with a local who knows the lanes — or cooking a dish yourself — teaches you more than just eating. Book ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide.
Rooftops on Tall Buildings
To see the whole Pattaya bay as one long curve, you have to go up. This group is hotel rooftop bars with wider views than the feet-in-the-sand spots. Drinks cost a bit more, but you get an angle the beach clubs can't give you. Most open in the late afternoon and run until late.
ZAMĀ Skybar — D Varee Jomtien Beach
A rooftop on the 38th floor of D Varee Jomtien that opened in early 2025, one of the highest seaside rooftops in town right now. It looks out over the long sweep of Jomtien–Pattaya bay, plays afro-house, and has a slightly dressed-up crowd. Open from late afternoon till late.
Horizon Rooftop — Hilton Pattaya
The 34th-floor rooftop at the Hilton Pattaya in the city center, with a panoramic view of Pattaya bay. It's been a steady, reliable choice for years. From 17:00–19:00 the Sunset Session offers buy-one-get-one cocktails, which makes it much better value if you come early.
Skybar Summer Club
A club-style rooftop on the 27th floor that mixes a party with the sunset — live DJ, shows, and sea views all around. Good for anyone who wants more energy than a quiet hotel rooftop. If you just want to sit and take in the view, it may not be your thing, but if you want something livelier this delivers.
Get There in Time for the Light
In the hot season the sun sets around 18:30; in the cool season it shifts earlier to about 18:00. If you want a seat at the edge with the view, arrive at least 45 minutes before sunset, especially at the popular rooftops where balcony tables fill up fast. Come early and you'll also catch the golden hour before the sun drops below the horizon.
Easygoing Beachfront Bars
Don't want to pay a lot, don't want to dress up, just want to sit and watch the sea with a cold drink — this group is the best fit. Some sit on a hill looking down at the water; others put chairs right on the sand.
The Sky Gallery Pattaya
A café-restaurant on the Pratamnak hillside. The selling point is terraces that step down the slope with a wide-open view of the sea — a sunset angle that Pattaya locals love bringing visitors to for photos. Around 17:00–18:00 is just right. Cocktails start around ฿265, food runs about ฿900–1,800 per head.
Beachfront bars on central–south Jomtien Beach
All along Jomtien Beach there are spots with canvas chairs and wooden tables set out on the sand, selling cold beer and snacks at friendly prices. Sit with your feet in the sand and watch the sunset with zero planning — just walk along and pick whichever place you like. Good for a night when you want easy and no fuss.
Beachfront bars on south Pattaya–Pratamnak
The south Pattaya into Pratamnak stretch has bars along the beach road facing the sea, where you can sip a drink and watch the boats and city lights in the evening. Good if you're staying around central–south Pattaya and don't want to travel far, though it gets crowded in high season, so leave extra time to find a seat.
Which One to Pick by Style
- Want to lounge in the pool all afternoon — Alexa Beach Club or Cave Beach Club in Jomtien, feet in the sand and chill.
- Want a bay view from up high — Horizon at the Hilton (come for the Sunset Session for the best value) or ZAMĀ on the 38th floor in Jomtien.
- Want great photos without spending much — The Sky Gallery on Pratamnak Hill; go before 6pm.
- On a budget and don't want to plan — the beachfront bars on Jomtien Beach; just sit on the sand with a cold beer.
