Pattaya's rooftop bars fall roughly into three zones: Pattaya Bay in the city center, where the high-rises cluster and you get the curve of the bay plus city lights after dark · the Jomtien side, quieter, with its long beach and the Pattaya skyline off in the distance · Na Jomtien and Pratamnak, away from the bustle and more about a romantic mood. All three catch the sunset since they face west out to sea — the difference is the atmosphere and the price.
Sunset times
From April to June the sun sets around 6:30–6:45 PM, while in the cool season (Nov–Jan) it drops earlier, around 6:00–6:10 PM. Head up about 45 minutes before sunset to grab a railing seat and catch the orange-and-purple twilight after the sun is gone — plenty of people reckon that stretch is even prettier than sunset itself.
10 Pattaya Rooftop Bars for Sunset
Horizon Rooftop — Hilton Pattaya
The rooftop most people think of first in Pattaya, on the 34th floor of the Hilton above Central Pattaya mall. You get the full curve of Pattaya Bay all the way out to a faint Koh Larn on the horizon, and the central location makes it easy to reach. There's usually a happy hour with two cocktails for one price around 5:00–7:00 PM, which lines up nicely with sunset.
D.I.B Sky Bar — D Varee Jomtien
A 38th-floor rooftop at D Varee on the Jomtien side, the highest in this zone. The open-air terrace looks out over the long sweep of Jomtien Beach with the Pattaya skyline far off, and it's quieter than the city-center bars — good if you want a calm seat. There are signature cocktails, wine, and tapas to nibble on.
The Rooftop — Holiday Inn Pattaya
A stylish 25th-floor cocktail bar on the North Pattaya side, looking out over the sea and the curve of Pattaya Bay. There's a daily happy hour around 5:00–7:00 PM and a live DJ Thursday through Sunday, so the mood sits right between chilled and lively — good for meeting friends or a date.
Sky Bar & Gravity — Siam@Siam Pattaya
Bars on the 24th and 27th floors of the Siam@Siam Design Hotel, with views of the sea and the Pattaya skyline. The hotel has a sharp design and a rooftop infinity pool, and the angles are great for photos at sunset — one for the photographers.
I Sea Sky — Veranda Resort Pratamnak
The rooftop at Veranda Resort over in the Pratamnak area, right on the water, where the sun sets beside the Pratamnak headland cliffs. The resort mood is quiet and laid-back, away from the city crowds — good for couples or anyone who wants a seaside dinner without the chaos.
Virgin Rooftop Pattaya
A 9th-floor rooftop on the North Pattaya side, decked out with greenery and an unobstructed sea view. There are daybeds and a small plunge pool, plus a DJ on weekends, so it's chilled in the early evening and picks up after dark — good for a group of friends.
Le Vela Rooftop — U Pattaya Najomtien
The terrace bar at U Pattaya in Na Jomtien, with the sea straight ahead and a warm, rustic look. There are beanbags to sink into while you watch the sun go down, and it's the quietest spot on this list since it's further out — good if you're staying around Na Jomtien or want to escape the crowds.
Executive Club Terrace — Holiday Inn
Another corner of the Holiday Inn on the 25th floor — an airy rooftop terrace with a Pattaya Bay view, good for a quiet drink before sunset. This is the one for anyone who wants a spot less crowded than the main bar.
Pippa Rooftop — Central Pattaya
A central-Pattaya rooftop built around dinner with a sea view and the sunset, with nicely plated dishes and fairly premium prices. It suits a special occasion or a celebration dinner more than just dropping in for a casual drink.
The Sky 32 — Grande Centre Point
A 32nd-floor rooftop near Terminal 21 Pattaya with 360-degree views taking in both the bay and the city. One thing worth saying plainly: this is a bring-your-own rooftop and doesn't serve alcohol, so it's for people who want to head up for the sunset view and a meal rather than drinks.
Straight talk on prices
The prices above are rough figures from recent visits. Rooftops at the big hotel chains usually add tax and a service charge of around 17% at the till, and many have a minimum spend per table or require a booking on long weekends. If you're going on a Saturday or a public holiday, calling ahead to check is the safer bet — and prices climb with the tourist season too.

Half a day with a local who knows the lanes — or cooking a dish yourself — teaches you more than just eating. Book ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide.
Pattaya nightlife, sensibly
Pattaya has a busy nightlife scene, especially around Walking Street and the surrounding sois. Most rooftop bars are hotel bars with a safe, easygoing vibe, but once you head down to wander the night-life areas, keep your wits about you and look after yourself and your valuables.
- Drink in moderation, especially if you're driving or riding a motorbike back. Pattaya has police checkpoints and busy roads — a taxi or Grab is safer.
- Watch your bag and phone in crowded spots like Walking Street. Keep valuables on you and don't leave your phone on the table.
- Check the bill before you pay. Some bars in the nightlife areas have hidden charges, so look at the menu prices before you order, and ask straight away if something doesn't add up.
- Agree on a meeting point with friends. If you're in a group and split up, settle on a spot and a time to head back, in case the phone signal is bad when it's crowded.
Want the sunset without going up a tower?
If you'd rather skip the rooftop, Pattaya has ground-level sunset spots that are just as good. The Pratamnak Hill viewpoint gives you the whole curve of Pattaya Bay — head there before sunset. And Jomtien Beach has beachfront spots where you can sip a drink with your feet in the sand, more relaxed and easier on the wallet than the hotel rooftops.
If you're taking a boat to Koh Larn for the view
Some people want to catch the sunset from Koh Larn. The last ferries and speedboats usually leave in the afternoon to early evening, so plan your return carefully and don't miss the boat — and always check the weather and sea conditions first. During the monsoon (roughly May–Oct) the swells get strong and boats may not run, so if the sky's overcast or the wind's up, postpone rather than risk it.
How to make the most of a Pattaya rooftop
- Check the happy hour. Plenty of bars run drink deals from 5:00–7:00 PM, which lines up with sunset — heading up then gives you the best value.
- Dress a bit smart. Many hotel rooftops have a dress code and won't admit shorts or flip-flops, so check before you go to avoid an awkward turnaround.
- Book a railing table. If you want the full view, call ahead and ask for a table on the sea-facing edge of the terrace.
- Allow for traffic. Pattaya gets jammed in the early evening, especially on weekends, so leave your hotel with time to spare to catch the sunset.
