Pattaya 3-Day Itinerary Beaches, Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch

🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

Pattaya is only about 2 hours from Bangkok, so people often think a single day is enough. But the things worth seeing are spread out — from the north (Naklua–Wong Amat) all the way south toward Sattahip, where Nong Nooch Garden and Khao Chi Chan sit. Do it as a day trip and you'll spend the whole day in the car with no time to relax, so we split it into 3 days to give each area room to breathe.

Around town, the songthaew (red trucks) loop along Beach Road and the beachfront. Fares were revised in 2026 to roughly 15–20 THB per ride within the city — just flag one down and press the buzzer when you want to get off. For Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan out of town, though, go with a private car, taxi, or rental, since the regular songthaew routes don't reach that far.

Day 1 — Easygoing beaches + Pattaya viewpoints

Keep the first day light and ease into the sea. Pick the beach that matches your mood — head north if you want quiet, or stay at Central Pattaya Beach if you want the buzz.

Day 1

Morning sea, evening views

09:00
Start the morning at Wong Amat Beach in the Naklua areaThis beach has calm water and fewer people than Pattaya Beach, with a wide stretch of sand — good for strolling and swimming. It's a luxury-hotel zone with no beer bars along the sand.
11:30
Lunch around Naklua, then move on to Central Pattaya BeachYou can swim at Pattaya Beach but it's livelier, with plenty of water activities — jet skis, banana boats. Always agree on the price first.
14:00
Cool off at a beachfront café, or head back to the hotel for a napThe afternoon sun is harsh. Resting first and heading out again is more fun than forcing your way through the midday heat.
16:30
Head up Khao Phra Tamnak for the viewpoint and the Pattaya City SignIt's a small hill between Pattaya and Jomtien beaches, with a view over the whole bay. The Big Buddha is nearby, and late afternoon — shaded, breezy — is just right.
18:30
Watch the sunset, then grab dinner around JomtienJomtien has lots of restaurants and cafés and a more laid-back feel than the Walking Street zone if you're not after a party.

Pick the beach that fits your group

Family / want quiet → Wong Amat or Jomtien · here for the fun → Central Pattaya Beach · weekdays are far less crowded than weekends and long holidays. Avoid those days if you can.

Day 2 — Sanctuary of Truth + Naklua

The highlight of the day is the Sanctuary of Truth, an all-teak structure on the seafront in the Naklua area, roughly 100 m tall and carved with Hindu–Buddhist deities across every square inch. It's been under continuous construction for decades. Open daily 08:00–18:00, with ticket sales closing about an hour before.

Day 2

Teak artistry and the Naklua seafront

09:30
Enter the Sanctuary of Truth in the morningEntry is around 500 THB per adult, about 250 THB per child, and you'll spend roughly 1.5–2 hours walking around. You'll wear a hard hat inside the building since construction is ongoing. Going early means softer sun and fewer crowds.
11:30
Catch an on-site show / take photos along the sea in front of the SanctuaryThere are Thai dance and elephant shows at certain times — check the schedule at the ticket booth. The best photo angle is from the sea side, where you can see the whole building.
13:00
Lunch at a seafood spot in Naklua MarketNaklua is an old fishing district where the seafood is fresh and prices are friendlier than the tourist zones. Check the price per kilo before you order.
15:00
Wander Lan Pho Naklua Market / head back to restLots of snacks and dried-seafood souvenirs. If you're worn out from the morning at the Sanctuary, head back to the hotel to rest before evening.
18:00
Dinner your way — pick a neighborhood to match your moodWant chill → Jomtien/Naklua · want to see Pattaya after dark → the Central Pattaya Beach zone through to Walking Street.

Sanctuary of Truth tips

It's open-air with a lot of walking, so bring an umbrella or hat and wear comfortable shoes. The afternoon is hotter and busier than the morning. Ticket prices change from time to time — double-check at the booth before you buy.

Day 3 — Nong Nooch Garden + Khao Chi Chan

The last day heads south to the Sattahip area, where Nong Nooch Garden and Khao Chi Chan sit very close together — just right for a single day. Nong Nooch is open 08:00–18:00, with adult entry around 950 THB and children around 800 THB (garden admission plus several cultural shows per day). Khao Chi Chan, the giant gold laser-etched Buddha image on the mountainside, is free to enter.

Day 3

Giant garden and the Khao Chi Chan Buddha

08:30
Leave town heading for Sattahip (about 18 km, roughly 30–40 min)It's out of town and the regular songthaew routes don't reach it, so go with a private car/taxi/rental. Arrange for a pickup around midday too.
09:00
Enter Nong Nooch in the morning — walk the French Garden, Cactus Garden, and Orchid GardenThe grounds are huge, with a tram and golf carts running inside. Walking it all is exhausting, so use the tram to save your legs.
10:30
Catch a cultural show / elephant showThe cultural show runs several times a day (around 10:30, 11:30, 13:30, 15:30). Check the times at the entrance when you buy tickets, and allow time to walk to the theater.
12:30
Lunch in the garden, then head out to Khao Chi Chan (very close by)Khao Chi Chan isn't far from Nong Nooch. It's a gold-inlaid Buddha image on a cliff face nearly 100 m high — free to enter, open all the time.
13:30
Take photos at the plaza in front of the Khao Chi Chan BuddhaThe plaza is wide and open with little shade, and the sun is strong — go in the late morning or early afternoon for more comfort. If you have time to spare, Frost Magical Ice of Siam is nearby.
15:30
Head back into town, pack up, and get ready to leaveIf you're returning to Bangkok, allow for evening traffic on Friday–Sunday — the motorway back tends to get busy.

Pair Nong Nooch with Khao Chi Chan

These two sit in the same area south of Pattaya, so doing them in one day saves both time and transport cost. If you hire a car, tell the driver to cover both in the same run — it's better value than splitting them across days.

A few things before you go

  • Best time to go — November–February: calm sea, clear skies, low humidity. This is Pattaya's high season for the beaches.
  • Avoid long holidays — weekends and public holidays get packed and the traffic is heavy. Weekdays are far more relaxed.
  • Carry cash — songthaews, Naklua Market, and many street-food spots are mostly cash-only.
  • Budget for out-of-town transport — Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan need a hired car. Agree on the round-trip fare and any stops before you set off.

FAQ

Is 3 days enough in Pattaya for the beaches, the Sanctuary of Truth, and Nong Nooch?

It's just right. This plan gives day one to the beaches and viewpoints, day two to the Sanctuary of Truth and Naklua, and the final day south to Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan, which sit close together — so you're not driving across zones all day.

How much is entry to the Sanctuary of Truth, and what are the opening hours?

It's open daily 08:00–18:00. Daytime entry is around 500 THB per adult and about 250 THB per child, with ticket sales closing roughly an hour before. Prices change from time to time, so it's worth checking at the ticket booth again.

Can you visit Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan together?

Yes, and we'd recommend doing them on the same day, since both are in the Sattahip area south of Pattaya and sit close together. Nong Nooch is open 08:00–18:00 with adult entry around 950 THB, while Khao Chi Chan is free.

What's the best way to get around Pattaya?

Within the city you can take the songthaew (red trucks); the 2026 fare is around 15–20 THB per ride. But for Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan out of town, go with a private car, taxi, or rental, since the regular songthaew routes don't reach that far.

Which beach in Pattaya is best for families?

Jomtien Beach and Wong Amat Beach suit families better than Central Pattaya Beach — the water is calmer, there are fewer people, and there are no beer bars along the sand, so swimming and strolling feel more comfortable.
