Pattaya is only about 2 hours from Bangkok, so people often think a single day is enough. But the things worth seeing are spread out — from the north (Naklua–Wong Amat) all the way south toward Sattahip, where Nong Nooch Garden and Khao Chi Chan sit. Do it as a day trip and you'll spend the whole day in the car with no time to relax, so we split it into 3 days to give each area room to breathe.
Around town, the songthaew (red trucks) loop along Beach Road and the beachfront. Fares were revised in 2026 to roughly 15–20 THB per ride within the city — just flag one down and press the buzzer when you want to get off. For Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan out of town, though, go with a private car, taxi, or rental, since the regular songthaew routes don't reach that far.
Day 1 — Easygoing beaches + Pattaya viewpoints
Keep the first day light and ease into the sea. Pick the beach that matches your mood — head north if you want quiet, or stay at Central Pattaya Beach if you want the buzz.

Pick the beach that fits your group
Family / want quiet → Wong Amat or Jomtien · here for the fun → Central Pattaya Beach · weekdays are far less crowded than weekends and long holidays. Avoid those days if you can.
Book the activities in your Chonburi trip ahead
Booking online ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide is usually cheaper than the gate and skips the queue. Pick only the experiences you actually want — prices and availability are shown live on each site.
Day 2 — Sanctuary of Truth + Naklua
The highlight of the day is the Sanctuary of Truth, an all-teak structure on the seafront in the Naklua area, roughly 100 m tall and carved with Hindu–Buddhist deities across every square inch. It's been under continuous construction for decades. Open daily 08:00–18:00, with ticket sales closing about an hour before.

Sanctuary of Truth tips
It's open-air with a lot of walking, so bring an umbrella or hat and wear comfortable shoes. The afternoon is hotter and busier than the morning. Ticket prices change from time to time — double-check at the booth before you buy.
Day 3 — Nong Nooch Garden + Khao Chi Chan
The last day heads south to the Sattahip area, where Nong Nooch Garden and Khao Chi Chan sit very close together — just right for a single day. Nong Nooch is open 08:00–18:00, with adult entry around 950 THB and children around 800 THB (garden admission plus several cultural shows per day). Khao Chi Chan, the giant gold laser-etched Buddha image on the mountainside, is free to enter.

Pair Nong Nooch with Khao Chi Chan
These two sit in the same area south of Pattaya, so doing them in one day saves both time and transport cost. If you hire a car, tell the driver to cover both in the same run — it's better value than splitting them across days.
A few things before you go
- Best time to go — November–February: calm sea, clear skies, low humidity. This is Pattaya's high season for the beaches.
- Avoid long holidays — weekends and public holidays get packed and the traffic is heavy. Weekdays are far more relaxed.
- Carry cash — songthaews, Naklua Market, and many street-food spots are mostly cash-only.
- Budget for out-of-town transport — Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan need a hired car. Agree on the round-trip fare and any stops before you set off.
