If you think Phang Nga is only beaches and islands, the cafes here will change your mind. Takua Pa Old Town has a row of Sino-Portuguese shophouses, many of them renovated into coffee shops that keep the original feel — tiled floors, wooden doors and all. Khao Lak, a beachside resort town, has cafes where you can sit and look out over the Andaman Sea with nowhere you need to be. We've split them into two zones depending on the mood you're after.
Takua Pa Old Town cafes — sipping inside Sino-Portuguese shophouses
Takua Pa Old Town is easy to explore in half a day. There's street art along the walls telling the story of the tin-mining era, scattered with small cafes where the owners have renovated the old houses themselves. Most open late morning and close in the evening — a good place to duck out of the afternoon sun before carrying on with your photo walk.
Homeless Cafe
A cafe inside an old building renovated to keep the original structure throughout, with a raw, warm feel. They use dark-roast arabica beans that black-coffee drinkers love, and they stay open into the evening. It's the one Takua Pa locals recommend most often.
Seen Cafe at Takuapa
An old house renovated into a cafe with a little European-garden feel and plenty of photo corners. The standout sweets are the cheesecake and the lemon tart. Better suited to people who want to sit and take photos than to serious coffee drinkers.
Mahamitr Cafe
A coffee shop that also does southern-Thai one-plate dishes. They use good-grade arabica beans, so it works if you want lunch and a coffee in one place. The atmosphere is calm and rarely crowded.
Mali Cafe
A homemade-bakes cafe with fresh baking every day; the cakes rotate with whatever's in season. The vibe is homey and sweet — a good stop for dessert with a coffee in the afternoon.
The Eighth Room Cafe
A coffee shop that takes its beans seriously, focused on medium roast with toast on the side, plated nicely. Good for anyone who wants to sit somewhere quiet and sip a proper coffee.
OH LENG Takuapa
An old-town cafe that stays open later than the others on weekends. The atmosphere is easy-going — good for a group of friends settling in for a long chat.
Good to know
Several Takua Pa cafes take a different weekday off (Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday). If there's a particular one you have your heart set on, check the shop's page before you set out — small cafes sometimes add extra closing days on their own.

Khao Lak Beachside Cafes — Sea Breeze and Sunset Views
Khao Lak is a resort town with a long stretch of beach, so the cafes here lean on the sea view and the Andaman sunset as their draw. Prices run a little higher than on the Takua Pa side because of the beachfront location, but the setting makes up for it.
Swell Cafe
A beachfront cafe on Khao Lak that's good for families, with a play zone for kids. You can sit indoors or out by the sand, with an open sea view. The drinks people go for are the cappuccino and the salted caramel.
Valhalla Khao Lak
A beachfront cafe with a wide view, best in the late afternoon while you wait for the golden light. It's a popular spot for people checking in and taking photos with the sea.
Garang Khaolak
A coffee shop and fresh bakery, with homemade ice cream as the standout. It's right on the main road, so it's an easy stop while you're driving around Khao Lak — good for a cool drink along the way.
Boonta by the Beach
A cafe right on Khao Lak Beach that keeps things simple, open midday to afternoon. You can sit and listen to the waves without the crowds — good for anyone who wants real quiet by the sea.
If you'd rather have a cafe surrounded by nature instead of right on the sea, the Khao Lak area also has a spot inside Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park where you can sip a coffee among big trees. It opens on roughly official hours, around 09:30–16:30 — a good stop after a short forest walk.
Which side to pick
Want old shophouses, vintage photo corners, and lighter prices? Head to the Takua Pa side. Want sea views and a cool breeze, and you're willing to pay a bit more? Go for the Khao Lak side.
Best time to go
Takua Pa is best in the afternoon to escape the sun · Khao Lak is best in the late afternoon, waiting for the sunset over the sea.
