Phang Nga is a spread-out province — the town sits on one side while Khao Lak and Takua Pa are further along the coast. Mookata and BBQ buffet restaurants follow that same scattered pattern, so we have grouped them by area to make it easier to pick somewhere near where you are staying. Prices listed are rough per-person estimates from reviews and can shift with promotions or public holidays — worth checking the restaurant Facebook page before you go.
Phang Nga Town
Rong Ruea Katha Ron
A mookata buffet right in the middle of Phang Nga town, tucked down a soi near a local coffee shop with hills framing the view. The place fills up by 4 PM most evenings. You get marinated pork, pork belly, fresh shrimp, fish balls, sausages, and fresh vegetables — the go-to spot for town locals when someone proposes mookata for dinner.
Yang Man Buffet — Phang Nga
A hot-plate BBQ buffet with 30+ items to choose from: sliced pork, bacon, beef, seafood, vegetables, salad, and fried rice, with refillable drinks. No time limit on seating, which makes it a solid pick when you are coming in a group and want to sit and talk.
Shabu Chill Buffet Phang Nga
A shabu buffet in town with 80+ items and a freshly renovated air-conditioned section. Good option when you do not want to sit in smoke. You can add a BBQ grill for a small extra charge if you want both in one meal.
Best time to go
Town spots like Rong Ruea Katha Ron start getting crowded around 4 PM. If you are coming in a group or going on a Friday or Saturday night, call ahead or arrive before 6 PM to be sure of a table.

Khao Lak
Yang Noei Khao Lak
Offers both mookata and a hot-pot dipping option. The buffet covers pork, beef, seafood, and snacks. Open until midnight, which makes it the right call if you have been at the beach all day and want a late dinner in Khao Lak.
Chonticha Mookrata BBQ
A mookata spot near Khao Lak that locals have been coming to for years. You pick pork, chicken, and seafood to grill over the broth. The buffet mixes Thai staples with Western snacks like fries, plus ice cream and Thai sweets to finish — the kind of mix that tends to appeal to international visitors too.
Chin Ai Suki Conveyor Belt
A conveyor-belt shabu restaurant — grab what passes by and drop it in your broth. Multiple soup bases available, drinks included in the price. Kids tend to love the pick-your-own-plate format. Closed Mondays.
FORESTER KHAOLAK
BBQ on a 20+ rai property with open space for kids to run around and a camping area on site. A good pick for families who want the grown-ups to grill in peace while the kids burn off energy. The open layout keeps it from feeling cramped.
Takua Pa & Surrounding Area
Sanit Dee Jang Shabu & Mala Hot Pot
Shabu and mala hot pot in Takua Pa with two broth options: mala spicy and clear. Four dipping sauces to choose from. If you want to alternate between a fiery mala bowl and a mild clear broth in the same meal, this one handles that.
Shabu Saen Lan
A budget-friendly shabu buffet in Takua Pa, with mala hot pot as the star option and three dipping sauces. Per-head pricing is reasonable — a good weeknight dinner when you do not want to spend much.
Sanit Mala Lam Kaen
Mala skewers and hot pot in the Lam Kaen area — priced per skewer at around 10 THB each, or order a hot pot from about 79–99 THB. Two broth options available. A lighter alternative when you want mala flavors without committing to a full buffet.
How to Pick the Right Spot
- How many people are you? — For a big group, an unlimited-time buffet like Yang Man works out better since you can sit, eat, and talk without being rushed.
- Grill or shabu? — If you want the smoky grill experience, go mookata. If you would rather not come out smelling like smoke, pick a shabu spot with air conditioning.
- Where are you staying? — If you are based in Khao Lak, Yang Noei and Chonticha are much closer than driving all the way into town.
- Traveling with kids? — FORESTER has open grounds for kids to roam while adults grill. Chin Ai's conveyor belt is a hit with children who enjoy picking plates themselves.
Honest heads-up
Many restaurants in Phang Nga only open in the evening, and some Khao Lak spots adjust their hours based on the tourist season. During low season they may open later, close earlier, or take days off. Check the restaurant Facebook page or call before making a long drive — it is the safer move.
