When people think "sheep farm" near Bangkok, two places come to mind: Suan Phueng in Ratchaburi and Cha-am in Phetchaburi. This page focuses on the Suan Phueng side, since it's only about two and a half hours' drive from Bangkok and it's the one route where you can hit cafes, farms and riverside stays in a single trip. Every place here lists ticket prices as rough estimates — check each farm's latest page before you set off, as prices and show times shift with the season.

Sheep farms and photo spots that are actually open

1

The Scenery Vintage Farm

Open daily 09:00–17:30 · Tel 081-000-7070

The sheep farm most people picture first in Suan Phueng. The grounds are large, split between the farm and a riverside villa zone. The highlights are the duck-herding dog show and the stage performances, plus you can feed the sheep up close. There's archery and balloon-popping for kids, and the meadows with their European-style cottages photograph well all day.

An open farm spread over more than 250 rai. The stars are the fluffy alpacas, but you'll also find sheep, miniature horses, mini deer, giant tortoises, parrots and plenty more to feed up close as you walk. The favourite photo corners are the hobbit-style village and the procession of geese. It's a feel-good spot, good for a long stroll with the kids.

What to know before you go

A lot of people search for "Swiss Sheep Farm" and assume it's in Suan Phueng. The original Swiss Sheep Farm is actually in Cha-am, Phetchaburi — not Ratchaburi. If you're heading to Suan Phueng, stick to the three places above so you don't end up driving in the wrong direction.

Ticket prices and what each package includes

Entry to most Suan Phueng sheep farms starts in the low hundreds of baht, and the activities are usually bundled into the ticket rather than paid for one by one. At The Scenery Vintage Farm, for example, tickets are split into sizes based on how many activities you get.

  • Size M (฿150) — two game plays, feed the sheep, and watch the show
  • Size L (฿200) — three game plays, feed the sheep, watch the show, and pick one snack
  • Size XL (฿250) — three game plays, feed the sheep, feed carrots to the horses, bottle-feed the lambs, watch the show, and pick one snack
  • Kids under 100 cm — free entry, handy for families with little ones

Alpaca Hill and Veneto charge per person and then sell animal feed on site. Keep some cash on hand for cups of sheep feed or horse carrots — a few tens of baht each — because kids usually want to feed the animals several times over.

Family activities you can do

Toddlers love it

Feed the sheep and alpacas

The activity kids love most. The sheep and alpacas here are used to people and aren't aggressive, so you can feed them up close — just keep an eye on little ones when they hold out the food.

Set show times

Watch the duck-herding dog show

Only The Scenery runs scheduled performances where a dog herds a line of ducks at a run — fun for kids and adults alike. Check the show times when you arrive.

For photographers

Shoot European-style scenes

Country cottages, meadows and pastel-coloured buildings make for nice family photos everywhere. Morning and evening light is softer than midday.

Easy walking

Stroll the mini zoo

Alpaca Hill and Veneto have a range of animals to walk past — like a small zoo that isn't too tiring for kids.

Tips for keeping kids happy

Arrive right at 9am or in the late afternoon for softer light and animals that are more active than at midday. Bring hats, drinking water and shoes you can walk on grass in. If you've got very young children, a stroller or a mat to sit and rest on makes things easier.

If you'd rather take it slow, picking just one or two farms for the day is plenty — each one takes a while to walk, and kids tire quickly. If you have time to stay over, book a riverside place in Suan Phueng for a night and wake up to the cool air before starting the next day's trip.
