Where to Stay in Trang?
12 Hotels We Actually Reviewed
Prices Compared Across 3 Sites!

12 hand-picked Trang hotels across every budget — from beachfront villas on Koh Mook and Koh Kradan to an old-town boutique and a central dorm from ฿470/night. Covering the main areas: Koh Mook, Koh Kradan, Pak Meng and Trang Town. From roughly ฿470–3,500/night.

💰 ฿470–3,500/night
🏝️ 4 key areas (Koh Mook·Koh Kradan·Pak Meng·Trang Town)
✅ Real guest reviews

🏝️ Why does choosing the right area in Trang matter so much?

Trang has both islands and a town, and each area has a completely different vibe. Koh Mook is famous for the Emerald Cave and a clear-water sandspit beach — calm and quiet, a 30–45 min boat from Kuan Tung Ku or Pak Meng pier. Koh Kradan is a white-sand island many people call the prettiest in Trang, ideal for sleeping right on the beach, though stays are few and simple. Pak Meng is a mainland beach near the island piers, handy for a night before an early boat. And Trang Town (Thap Thiang) is the old-town heart — Sino-Portuguese shophouses, morning dim sum and night markets, easy to get around and cheap, perfect as a base before heading to the islands. Many people book without checking whether their stay is on an island or in town, then lose time shuttling back and forth by boat. This guide rounds up 11 Trang hotels we've already reviewed across every tier — with real guest-review scores, a 3-site price comparison and direct booking links for each.

🚇
Trang has no metro, but there's a central railway station (Southern Line to Trang) and Trang Airport (TST) about 15 min from town. The key thing is that island stays need a boat — Koh Mook is a 30–45 min boat from Kuan Tung Ku or Pak Meng pier; Koh Kradan is roughly 45–60 min from Pak Meng or Kuan Tung Ku (some boats don't run in monsoon season). Pak Meng beach is in Sikao district, about a 40 min drive from town. In town you can walk the old quarter and grab a taxi or rent a scooter easily. The areas in this guide: Koh Mook — Emerald Cave, sandspit beach, clear water · Koh Kradan — Trang's prettiest white-sand beach · Pak Meng — mainland beach near the island piers · Trang Town — old town, dim sum, night markets, easiest access.

🏖️ Set on a sandspit with beach on both sides🌅 Catch sunrise and sunset🛖 Private beachfront villas🐠 Near the Emerald Cave and snorkel spots
📍 211/1 Moo 2, Ko Muk, Kantang, Trang

The highest score in this guide at 9.4 — Sivalai is a beachfront resort on Koh Mook set right on a sandspit, with beach on both sides, a rare feature that lets you watch both sunrise and sunset in one place. Villas are beachfront and garden, each with a private terrace, ideal for couples and quiet getaways. Real guest reviews praise the sandspit location and sea views, but note Koh Mook needs a boat and dining outside the resort is limited. Best for those who want to genuinely sleep on an island beach near the Emerald Cave.

💡 Tip: The entry-level Deluxe Villa is already lovely; move up to a Beachfront Villa only if you want to step straight onto the sand from your terrace. Take the boat from Kuan Tung Ku or Pak Meng and check schedules ahead — some boats don't run in monsoon season.
👍 Pros
 • ✓ Highest score in the guide 9.4 — consistent on Booking and Agoda
 • ✓ On a sandspit with beach on both sides — sunrise and sunset
 • ✓ Private beachfront villas with sea-view terraces
 • ✓ Near the Emerald Cave and Koh Mook snorkel spots
👎 Things to note
 • ✗ Koh Mook needs a boat; dining outside the resort is limited
 • ✗ Boats to the island can be cancelled in monsoon season

🏛️ Restored old-town building🎨 Boutique design🍜 Walk to dim sum and night markets🛏️ Has corner rooms and a Suite
📍 23 Rama VI Rd, Thap Thiang, Mueang Trang, Trang

GinGin is the top-scoring in-town stay in this guide at 9.0, a boutique hotel inside a restored old-town building. The draw is the conversion of an old shophouse into modern design rooms, in a spot where you can walk to morning dim sum and the night markets. Real guest reviews praise the design and old-town location, but honestly there aren't many reviews yet (15) since it's fairly new. Best for those who love old-town character and want a stylish room in the heart of Thap Thiang.

💡 Tip: For a wider room with light from two sides, pick a Corner room. Get up early to eat at a famous old-town dim sum shop — it's a Trang signature.
👍 Pros
 • ✓ Score 9.0 — highest among in-town stays
 • ✓ Restored old shophouse turned boutique design rooms
 • ✓ Old-town location, walk to dim sum and night markets
 • ✓ Corner rooms and a Suite for those wanting an upgrade

💬 Most reviews in the guide 820🏯 Thai Lanna style🚉 Near Trang railway station💰 From ฿600
📍 25/28-31 Sathani Rd, Thap Thiang, Mueang Trang, Trang

Ban Aothong has the most reviews in this guide — over 820, with a score of 8.6, a number that tells you it's a stay people pick again and again. The draw is a Thai Lanna style in the city centre, near Trang railway station, with rates from just ฿600 and Family rooms for groups. Real guest reviews praise the value and location, but warn that the cheapest Standard rooms are ground-floor with no window, so it's worth moving up to one with a window. Best for budget travellers who want a dependable stay in the centre.

💡 Tip: The cheapest Standard is ground-floor with no window; for a little natural light, choose one with a window. Travelling as a group? The Family Room splits cheaper per person.

The draw is spacious rooms and full facilities including on-site dining and common areas, working for both families and work trips. Best for those set on sleeping on Koh Kradan's beach, not on luxury.

⚠️ Closed since 2018🌊 Was a 5-star Andaman resort🏖️ Changlang Beach near Pak Meng🔎 Beware stale booking listings
📍 198-199 Moo 5, Changlang Beach, Maifad, Sikao, Trang

We've put this at the end for honesty — Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa has been closed since 2018, after the Supreme Court cancelled its land title for overlapping protected forest and Hat Chao Mai National Park and ordered it removed. While it was open, this was the most talked-about 5-star beachfront resort in Sikao: 138 sea-view rooms, gardens landscaped by Bill Bensley, a Google rating of 4.6/5 from 213 reviews. But you can no longer book a stay, even though several booking sites still list it with current-year rates. We include it as a heads-up, not a recommendation.

💡 Tip: If you see Anantara Si Kao with a price on a booking site, treat it as a stale listing and don't pay before confirming it's actually open. For a beach feel around Sikao–Pak Meng on a real budget, look at Pakmeng Resort, or sleep by the sea on Koh Mook or Koh Kradan instead.
👍 Pros
 • ✓ Was Sikao's most renowned 5-star Andaman resort
 • ✓ Sea-view rooms and service won steady praise (pre-closure)
 • ✓ Gardens by Bill Bensley, a genuinely private setting
👎 Things to note
 • ✗ Closed since 2018 — cannot be booked
 • ✗ Some booking sites still list it, making it look open

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ — Common traveller questions about Trang hotels

❓ Which area should I stay in Trang?

It depends on your travel style. Koh Mook suits those who want to sleep on an island beach, near the Emerald Cave with clear water (Koh Mook Sivalai). Koh Kradan has the prettiest white sand in Trang, simple and close to nature (Kradan Beach Resort). Pak Meng is a mainland beach near the pier, handy before a boat (Pakmeng Resort). Trang Town (Thap Thiang) is the old town with dim sum, night markets, the easiest access and cheapest rates (GinGin, Thumrin Thana, Ban Aothong, ChomTrang, Namthip, Lamoon, A Local Something, BB Trang).

❓ How much do Trang hotels cost?

Prices vary widely: dorms and budget in-town stays start around ฿470–600 per night; boutiques and mid-range to 4-star city hotels run ฿750–1,500; island beach resorts start around ฿1,800–3,500+. All prices are approximate starting rates for standard rooms. In High Season (Nov–Apr) prices are higher than usual and rooms fill fast.

❓ How do I get to Koh Mook and Koh Kradan?

The beachfront stays in this guide are on islands and need a boat. Koh Mook is a 30–45 min boat from Kuan Tung Ku or Pak Meng pier. Koh Kradan is a 45–60 min boat from Pak Meng or Kuan Tung Ku. Pak Meng beach is in Sikao district, about a 40 min drive from Trang Town. In monsoon season (May–Oct) the sea is rough and boats to the islands may not run on some days, so check the weather first.

❓ How far ahead should I book a Trang hotel?

On weekdays outside the high season, 2–3 weeks ahead is enough. But in High Season (November–April), especially New Year, Songkran and the Trang Roast Pork Festival, island beach resorts fill very fast, so book a month or more ahead. In monsoon season (May–Oct) prices drop but some island resorts close seasonally, so check before booking.

❓ When is the best time to visit Trang, and is it open year-round?

The best time is November–April, when the sea is calm and clear and the weather is good for island trips. In monsoon season (May–October) the sea is rough, it rains, boats to Koh Mook and Koh Kradan may not run on some days, and some island resorts close seasonally. In-town stays in Trang are open year-round, so a monsoon trip focused on the old town, dim sum and local food is more convenient.

❓ Which site is cheapest to book a Trang hotel?

Prices on each site (Agoda, Booking.com, Trip.com) differ by promotion and period, so it's best to compare all three before booking. Each review page in this guide has price-comparison links — that can save several hundred baht a night, especially for island beach resorts in peak season.

❓ Is Anantara Si Kao in Trang still open?

No, it's closed. Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa has been closed since 2018, after the Supreme Court cancelled its land title for overlapping protected forest and Hat Chao Mai National Park and ordered it removed. We include it at the end of this guide as a heads-up, because several booking sites still list the name with current-year prices even though you can no longer stay there. For a beach feel around Sikao–Pak Meng, look at Pakmeng Resort, or sleep by the sea on Koh Mook or Koh Kradan instead.
