Uthai Thani in 3 Days, 2 Nights
Riverside Town + Ban Rai Nature & Hub Pa Tat

Three days is just about right to see both sides of Uthai Thani. The town side is the Sakae Krang River, floating houses, a morning market that wakes before sunrise, the old Trok Rong Ya lane, and a temple on a hilltop. The other side is Ban Rai–Lan Sak, all limestone mountains, the Hub Pa Tat valley where you walk through a cave tunnel into a prehistoric forest, and Wat Tham Khao Wong, a teakwood temple tucked in a mountain valley. This plan keeps you in town for both nights and uses the middle day to drive out for nature without packing up. The timing is built around the real opening and closing hours of each spot.

Uthai Thani in 3 Days, 2 Nights Riverside Town + Ban Rai Nature & Hub Pa Tat

🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

Uthai Thani sits about 220 km from Bangkok, roughly a 3-hour drive up the Asia Highway (Route 32). The one thing to grasp before you plan is that the province's top sights are in different zones. The riverside town on the Sakae Krang and Wat Tha Sung are close together, short walks and short drives. But Hub Pa Tat is in Lan Sak district (about 28 km from town) and Wat Tham Khao Wong is in Ban Rai district (about 60 km from town). Three days and two nights works out nicely, because it leaves the middle day free to drive the nature route at a full, unhurried pace.

Three-day trip overview

  • Day 1 — Riverside town Arrive around midday, walk Trok Rong Ya, eat giant gourami by the river, head up Khao Sakae Krang in the afternoon to pay respects at Wat Sangkat Rattana Khiri and wait for sunset, then stroll the riverside in the evening
  • Day 2 — Ban Rai–Lan Sak nature run Up early and out of town, walk through the cave at Hub Pa Tat to see the prehistoric forest, then on to Wat Tham Khao Wong with its teakwood hall in a mountain valley, back into town by evening
  • Day 3 — Morning market + Wat Tha Sung Up before dawn for the riverside morning market, eat rice congee and pa thong ko, head to Wat Tha Sung later to see the Glass Temple and the Golden Palace, then eat giant gourami at lunch before heading home
  • Where to stay Stay both nights in town by the Sakae Krang River. You can walk to the morning market and Trok Rong Ya, and you never have to move your bags even though the middle day takes you far out

A timing tip

Wat Sangkat Rattana Khiri on Khao Sakae Krang is the best sunset spot in town. Check that day's sunset time and head up about 45 minutes early, so you can both pay respects and claim your photo angle before the crowd arrives.

Getting there and where to stay

  • From Bangkok — Drive the Asia Highway (Route 32), about 3 hours. This is the best fit because the middle day requires driving out to Ban Rai–Lan Sak, which public transport barely reaches.
  • Public transport — There are vans and buses from Mo Chit to Uthai Thani, but once you're in town, getting to Hub Pa Tat, Wat Tham Khao Wong, and up Khao Sakae Krang is hard. Rent a car in town.
  • Fuel up and prep — The nature day runs through the mountains with gas stations far apart. Fill the tank before you go and pack drinking water and snacks in the car.
  • Where to stay — Choose a hotel or floating house on the Sakae Krang in town and stay both nights in a row. You can walk to the morning market and Trok Rong Ya. See the curated picks on the hotel roundup page.
