FAQ

Sukhothai Old City or New City — where to stay?

If the Historical Park is your main goal, the Old City is better — close to the ruins, easy to cycle around and quiet. The New City has cheaper rooms and more restaurants and transport, but it is about 12 km from the park.

Can I cycle around Sukhothai Historical Park?

Yes, and it is highly recommended — the park is large and flat, with cheap bicycle rental at the entrance. Staying in the Old City makes it easy, especially in the cooler morning or late afternoon.

How many days for Sukhothai?

One to two days is ideal for the Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai historical parks. Many stop here between Chiang Mai and Bangkok, or stay overnight to see the illuminated ruins in the evening.
