7.3Highlights and sights around Koh Lipe — nature, city and culture
The main beach on Koh Lipe — fine white sand and clear water, where the speedboats land and the lodging and restaurants are densest. The heart of the island.
The east-side beach for watching the sun come up — a long stretch of white sand and clear water, quieter than Pattaya Beach, with Koh Adang in view across the water.
A small, quiet beach on the west side for the sunset, good if you want to get away from the crowds. It's a short walk from Pattaya Beach.
A longtail-boat trip out to snorkel at Koh Hin Ngam, the Jabang reef, and Koh Yang — clear water, lovely coral, and schools of fish. The thing nobody skips on a Lipe trip.
The big island across from Lipe, with the Pha Chado viewpoint where you can look down over Lipe and the whole clear-water bay. A popular hike up to the view.
An island covered in smooth, glossy black stones lining the whole beach, with a legend that cursing follows anyone who takes one home. A photo stop on the snorkeling trip.

Koh Lipe's signature food — real local spots, rounded up and ranked
Restaurants along Pattaya Beach and Walking Street serve fresh seafood — shrimp, shellfish, crab, fish — grilled, steamed, or stir-fried. It costs more than on the mainland, but you're eating right by the clear water.
The pedestrian street through the center of the island packs in restaurants, bars, cafes, and snack stalls — the main eating-and-drinking spot on Lipe in the evening.
Pattaya and Sunrise beaches have seaside bars to sit and have a drink while watching the sunset and listening to music — easygoing island vibe (drink responsibly).
The island has coffee cafes, smoothies, and small dessert shops for a midday break — some with a sea view right on the beach.

Best time to go, getting around, and what to know before visiting Koh Lipe
November–April, when the water is clear and the sea is calm — best for snorkeling and island-hopping by boat, and this is the island's open season. May–October is the monsoon, with rough seas and a lot of the lodging and boats closed.

Koh Lipe is a tiny island inside Tarutao National Park in Satun province, known for some of the clearest water in Thailand, fine white sand like powder, and shallow coral you can swim out to right from the beach. The island is small enough to cross on foot in a few minutes, but it has everything — places to stay, restaurants, and a walking street down the middle.
There are three main beaches. Pattaya Beach has white sand and clear water, and it's where the boats land and where most of the lodging is. Sunrise Beach on the east side is for the morning sun, and Sunset Beach on the west is the quiet one. Down the middle of the island is Walking Street, lined with restaurants and bars. The highlight of Lipe is the snorkeling trip around the nearby islands — Koh Adang, Koh Rawi, Koh Hin Ngam (Stone Beach), and the Jabang reef — where the water is clear and the coral is beautiful. Honesty: Lipe is seasonal. During the monsoon from May to October the sea gets rough and a lot of the lodging and boats shut down. Things on the island cost more than on the mainland because everything has to be shipped in. Pack your trash out and don't touch the coral.
