About — Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is the kind of place where you can stroll the old moated city in the morning and drive up the mountain for coffee in the afternoon, all in one day. There are old temples, morning markets, garden cafes, and hills around town to escape the heat and the haze.
Plenty of people come for a few days and head home, but just as many show up and stay for a month, because the pace of life here really is slower than Bangkok in a way you can feel.
Best time: November–February, cool and clear (skip March–April when the air gets smoky)
