Kamphaeng Phet on a Budget
2 Days, 1 Night, Every Baht Counts

Kamphaeng Phet is one of those places where a budget trip genuinely works, because most of the highlights are World Heritage ruins with entry fees in the tens of baht, the famous local dishes cost well under 100 THB a plate, and in-town hotels start at a few hundred baht. We put together a 2-day, 1-night plan that keeps the budget around 1,500–2,000 THB per person (not counting the cost of getting to the province), covering the temples, the forest, a hot spring, and plenty of local food.

Kamphaeng Phet on a Budget 2 Days, 1 Night, Every Baht Counts

🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

A lot of people drive straight past Kamphaeng Phet, treating it as a pit stop on the way north. But stop for a couple of days and you'll find a 600-year-old old town that UNESCO listed as World Heritage alongside Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai. What makes it great for budget travellers is that the per-person cost is far lower than the better-known tourist towns — entry fees, lodging, and food included. We built this plan from real 2026 prices and only picked spots that are still open and running.

Rough Total Budget to Prepare

These numbers assume two people sharing a room and driving or renting a car yourselves, counting from the moment you reach Kamphaeng Phet town.

  • 1 night's lodging — an in-town room runs about ฿400–600, so ฿200–300 each split two ways
  • Total entry fees — Historical Park ฿40 + Aranyik-zone temples ฿40, around ฿80–100
  • 4–5 meals — ฿50–120 each, around ฿400–500 total
  • Fuel / getting around town + hot spring — around ฿300–400
  • Egg-banana / krayasart souvenirs — around ฿150–250

Money-Saving Tip

The Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park ticket splits into two zones — the in-town zone (Wat Phra Kaeo, Wat Phra That) and the Aranyik zone (Wat Chang Rop, Wat Phra Si Iriyabot), at 40 THB each. Do the in-town zone first to get your money's worth. If your budget is really tight, you can pick just the Aranyik zone, which is bigger and has larger stupas.

FAQ

How much does a 2-day, 1-night trip to Kamphaeng Phet cost?

With two people sharing a room and driving yourselves, you can keep it to around 1,500–2,000 THB per person, covering one night's lodging, entry fees, 4–5 meals, in-town fuel, and a few souvenirs. That doesn't include the cost of getting to the province.

How much is entry to Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park?

Thais pay 40 THB per zone, split into the in-town zone (Wat Phra Kaeo, Wat Phra That) and the Aranyik zone (Wat Chang Rop, Wat Phra Si Iriyabot). It's open roughly 08:30–16:30. On a tight budget, doing just one zone is enough to get the gist of this World Heritage town.

What's the must-try local food in Kamphaeng Phet?

Chakangrao noodles are the number-one local specialty — hand-kneaded noodles in a balanced broth, 40–60 THB a plate. There's also egg-banana, krayasart, and Ping River fish, all cheap eats and souvenirs.

How cheap do Kamphaeng Phet hotels start?

In-town rooms start around 349–600 THB a night — places like Fiq Boutique Hotel, The Room Hotel, and Soda Resort. Split two ways with a friend, that's 200–300 THB each, very cheap compared with other tourist towns.

Can I do Kamphaeng Phet on a budget without my own car?

Yes. The main sights are the in-town Historical Park, which you can see on foot or by bicycle, and you can stay at a downtown hotel near restaurants and the market. Khlong Lan Waterfall and the hot spring are outside town, so without a car you may need to charter a ride or skip them — but sticking to the in-town sights is still worth it.
