Koh Chang's main beaches line up along the ring road on the island's west side. From north to south: White Sand Beach · Klong Prao · Kai Bae · Lonely Beach, then down to Bang Bao village. Most cafes sit along this stretch, so it's easy to drop in while you're driving around the island. We ranked them by what it's actually like to sit there — the view and value for money — not just how much buzz they get on social media.
Beachfront cafes for coffee with a sea view
WARI Coffee
A beachfront cafe on Klong Prao with a minimalist white look like a boatshed. There's an air-conditioned indoor zone plus bean bags set out on the sand so you can sit and watch the sea straight on. The Americano and blueberry cheesecake come up a lot in reviews. It's one of Klong Prao's most popular photo spots.
COCO Coffee & Bar
A seafront spot that stays open into the evening. By day it's a cafe where you sip coffee over the bay; come dusk it turns into a bar for watching the sunset. Staff are friendly and prices are reasonable — a good pick if you want to settle in from afternoon through to sundown.
Indie Beach Café
A cafe inside a beachfront bungalow resort near Bang Bao, with hammocks and a smoothie bowl as its signature. The laid-back beach vibe makes it good for breakfast or a late-morning coffee. Prices run a touch higher than usual cafes, in line with the spot right on the sand.
Tastory Pearl Beach
A beachfront cafe on Pearl Beach using Thai coffee beans, with wood-fired pizza and sunset cocktails too — so you can stay from an afternoon coffee right through to dinner. The decor is clearly set up for anyone who likes taking photos.
Sol Beach
A seafront spot open from morning until late (08:00–22:00) — good if you want a place to settle in for hours, from a morning coffee to cold drinks later on. The setting is right on the sand, so you can watch the waves all day.
Check ahead during low season
During the monsoon (roughly May–October), a lot of beachfront cafes cut their hours or close on some days because of strong waves and rain. Before you drive over, call ahead or check the cafe's page so you don't make the trip for nothing.
Want to taste deeper? Try a Koh Chang food tour or cooking class
Half a day with a local who knows the lanes — or cooking a dish yourself — teaches you more than just eating. Book ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide.
Garden cafes, shaded and quiet
Fig Cafe
A garden cafe near Kai Bae with lots of trees — step in and it feels cool and shaded, like sipping coffee in a European garden. The focus is single-origin coffee and a vegetarian brunch. It's a good quiet corner to read a book and escape the sun and the bustle of the beach.
Ban Kafae
A spot along the road on the island's east side. What people talk about is that they grow their own coffee on site. It's a small place with a garden-house feel — worth a stop if you're driving over to the east toward the ferry pier or Than Mayom Waterfall.
Coffee Routine Koh Chang
A tiny slow-bar kiosk near Kai Bae with several Thai single-origin beans to choose from, brewed by V60 or AeroPress at friendly prices. Great for anyone serious about pour-over coffee. Cash only — bring some with you.
Hilltop cafes with panoramic bay views
The Mount Café
A cafe on a rise in the Kai Bae valley with a panoramic view of the bay and the islands around it. What people mention is the piccolo latte and egg tarts. It's a popular selfie spot, but the road up is fairly steep — drive up with extra care.
Altitude 79
A spot up high looking out over both the forest and the sea. The signature is an iced orange espresso. The wide view makes it good for photos from late morning into the afternoon. One thing to know: it closes when there's a storm or heavy rain, since it sits up at altitude.
Driving up to hilltop cafes — watch the steep roads
The ring road around Koh Chang has steep sections and sharp hairpin bends in several places, especially the climbs to the hilltop cafes and the stretch between Kai Bae and Lonely Beach. If you're on a motorbike, check your brakes first and go slow. Anyone not used to steep slopes should skip driving themselves — taking a songthaew or having an experienced driver take you up is safer.
A few more worth a stop
Reflect Cafe & Bar
Near White Sand Beach, with an award-winning barista and beans from several origins around the world. Good for anyone serious about their coffee.
Chujai (Taste Note)
A specialty coffee bar near White Sand Beach with a souvenir corner and strong wifi — good for getting some work done.
Marin Coffee
A cool air-conditioned spot near Klong Prao with house-baked goods and a dark-roast leaning menu — an easy place to duck out of the sun.
Planning a cafe crawl in one day
If you want to hit several cafes in a single day, plan your route along the beaches — it saves a lot of driving time. Go north to south, or the other way round, and pick the spots near each other for each part of the day, so you don't have to keep looping back along the steep roads.
Working north to south
On cash and signal
Some small cafes and pour-over kiosks take cash only. There are only a handful of ATMs on the island, mostly clustered near the main beaches, so withdraw what you need before you head out. Phone signal is weak in places too — be ready for the map to drop out at some spots.
