You'll find spots right on the sand where you sip an Americano watching the waves, leafy garden cafes tucked under the trees, and hilltop places with a view across the whole bay. 🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

Koh Chang's main beaches line up along the ring road on the island's west side. From north to south: White Sand Beach · Klong Prao · Kai Bae · Lonely Beach, then down to Bang Bao village. Most cafes sit along this stretch, so it's easy to drop in while you're driving around the island. We ranked them by what it's actually like to sit there — the view and value for money — not just how much buzz they get on social media.

Check ahead during low season

During the monsoon (roughly May–October), a lot of beachfront cafes cut their hours or close on some days because of strong waves and rain. Before you drive over, call ahead or check the cafe's page so you don't make the trip for nothing.

Driving up to hilltop cafes — watch the steep roads

The ring road around Koh Chang has steep sections and sharp hairpin bends in several places, especially the climbs to the hilltop cafes and the stretch between Kai Bae and Lonely Beach. If you're on a motorbike, check your brakes first and go slow. Anyone not used to steep slopes should skip driving themselves — taking a songthaew or having an experienced driver take you up is safer.

A few more worth a stop

Planning a cafe crawl in one day

If you want to hit several cafes in a single day, plan your route along the beaches — it saves a lot of driving time. Go north to south, or the other way round, and pick the spots near each other for each part of the day, so you don't have to keep looping back along the steep roads.

On cash and signal

Some small cafes and pour-over kiosks take cash only. There are only a handful of ATMs on the island, mostly clustered near the main beaches, so withdraw what you need before you head out. Phone signal is weak in places too — be ready for the map to drop out at some spots.

FAQ

Which beachfront cafe on Koh Chang would you recommend?

On Klong Prao Beach there's WARI Coffee, where you can sit on bean bags on the sand and watch the waves straight on. COCO Coffee & Bar and Sol Beach stay open into the evening, so they're good for the sunset. Over near Bang Bao, Indie Beach Café has a relaxed beach vibe.

Where should I go for a quiet garden cafe?

Fig Cafe near Kai Bae is a leafy garden cafe — cool, shaded, and good for reading a book. For pour-over coffee, try the Coffee Routine kiosk, which has several Thai single-origin beans. Both are quieter than the beachfront spots.

Are there hilltop cafes with a good view on Koh Chang?

Yes — The Mount Café, on a rise in the Kai Bae valley, has a panoramic bay view, and Altitude 79 looks out over both the forest and the sea. The road up to both is steep, so drive slowly and check your brakes if you're on a motorbike.

Roughly how much does coffee cost at Koh Chang cafes?

Most coffees run about ฿70–130 a cup. Beachfront and hilltop spots with prime locations cost a little more. Cake or bakery is around ฿60–120. Many small cafes and pour-over kiosks take cash only, so come prepared.

What's the best time of year to visit Koh Chang cafes?

High season, around November–April, has good weather, calm seas, and everything open. During the monsoon (May–October) it rains often and many beachfront cafes cut their hours or close on some days, so call ahead or check the cafe's page before you go.
