Koh Lipe is small — walking from one beach to the next doesn't take long. Most cafes cluster in two areas: Walking Street, which cuts through the middle of the island and links Pattaya Beach with Sunrise Beach, and the beachfronts on all three main beaches. Want the sea right in front of you? Pick a beachfront spot. Want to hide from the sun in the shade? Head into one of the lanes off Walking Street. Getting around here is easy on foot — you don't need a vehicle, almost everything is walkable.
Before you plan
Koh Lipe runs on a season. During the monsoon, roughly May–October, the sea gets rough, boats run less often or stop entirely, and many hotels and shops close for a long stretch. The cafes that stay open year-round tend to be the ones along Walking Street, while some beachfront spots shut for the monsoon. If you're going during this window, check the shop's page or ask your hotel first. Prices in this guide are rough ranges from reviews and can shift with the season and the menu.
The fresh-coffee cafes people talk about most
These are the names that come up most often in reviews — serious coffee places, smoothie-bowl spots, and bakeries alike. They're ordered by how often people mention them and how easy they are to reach, not as a fixed ranking of which is better than which, because each one shines in a different way.
Bloom Cafe & Hostel
The spot many reviewers call the best coffee on the island. It sits right on Walking Street, the room is a nice place to sit, and it stocks plant-based milk alternatives for anyone lactose-intolerant or vegan — which is hard to find out here. The iced latte is well made, and there are smoothie bowls too, though a few reviews say they go a bit heavy on the ice, which waters down the flavor.
Come Escape Cafe and Bar
Tucked down a lane off Walking Street, so it's quieter than the spots on the main strip. A lot of reviewers rate the smoothie bowls here as the best on the island for the price. A good place to sit and rest in the afternoon without the bustle.
Benny's On The Beach
A vegan-vegetarian spot that's been around since 2018, working as both a beachfront cafe and bar. Reviewers love the smoothie bowls and the vegan plates like the falafel bowl. Good for anyone who wants a light, fruity dessert with a sea view rather than something heavy.
Elephant Cafe & Bar
A long-running spot on Walking Street that changes character through the day — a breakfast cafe in the morning, a sit-down restaurant at midday, and a bar with live music at night. It serves everything from coffee and smoothies to cocktails, with both Thai and Western food. Relaxed by day, lively in the evening.
Cafe Lipe
A Swiss-Thai-run cafe on Pattaya Beach where you sit under a thatched roof right on the sand, with the sea straight ahead. Known for strong coffee, sandwiches, a range of teas and smoothies. The vibe is chilled and old-school — a good place to settle in for a while in the late morning.
Pee Pee Cafe & Bakery
A long-standing bakery on Walking Street with donuts and croissants laid out at the front to grab. Good if you want a light pastry with your morning coffee before catching a boat out to snorkel, or something to take along for the day.
Kafair Hut
A small spot on Sunset Beach, which is quieter than the others — part bakery, part restaurant, part cafe. It does breakfast, sandwiches and fresh fruit shakes made to order. Good for anyone staying near Sunset or looking for a quiet corner away from the crowds.
Harmony Cafe
An air-conditioned cafe in a lane behind Sunrise Beach — a solid place to escape the heat on a scorching day. It has chocolate croissants and fresh coffee, and is good for anyone who just wants to sit in a cool room and take a break from the heat for a bit.
Sea La Vie
A spot right on Sunrise Beach. The draw is a wide bamboo mezzanine with big lanterns strung under the trees — a relaxed place to catch the sea breeze, sip a cold drink and watch the waves. Good for photos and settling in for a while.
Cafe Tropical
An easygoing cafe where people stop for a coffee and a snack while wandering through the middle of the island. The drink menu is varied, hot and cold, and it's another option when the popular spots are full.

Pick a cafe by time of day
On an island this small, when you go matters as much as which spot you pick, because the sun and the activities are so different at each part of the day. Here's how to match a cafe to the rhythm of the day so you're as comfortable as possible.

Cooling off after walking around
Catching the breeze before dark
Things worth knowing before you sit down at an island cafe
- Prices run higher than the mainland — coffee and smoothies on Koh Lipe cost noticeably more than in town, because ingredients and pretty much everything else arrive by boat. Iced lattes hit ฿110 at some places, and a smoothie bowl at a spot with a good view can reach ฿380 — part of which is the location and the view.
- Cash is easier — some places take transfers or cards, but a lot of smaller spots prefer cash. ATMs on the island are limited and charge fees, so bring extra cash to be safe.
- Some places close in the monsoon — during May–October, some beachfront spots shut, and the ones still open tend to be the Walking Street group. Check before walking a long way.
- Help look after the island — take your trash with you, and don't toss straws or plastic cups into the sea. Many places already use paper straws or reusable cups — do your part to cut down the waste on the island.
A note on the sea and nature
When you head out to snorkel or visit nearby islands during the day, check the weather and safety every time. If the waves are rough, push your plans back — don't force a trip out. And just as importantly, never touch, step on, or take coral and rocks. Coral grows incredibly slowly and is home to sea life. Take a photo and leave it be, so the people after you get to see it the way we did.
