Of the four new Bib Gourmand restaurants in Bangkok for 2026, "Keawloon" is probably the one that gets the most excited reaction when you tell people about it, because this isn't a restaurant in the usual sense at all — it's an actual home, down Soi Saengchan off Sukhumvit 40, where Chef Phat opens his door to just a few tables a day. The restaurant is named after his grandmother, "Keawloon," and what's served is genuinely the family's own home cooking, blending two bloodlines — Nakhon Si Thammarat and Sukhothai — served in the family's own well-worn crockery, passed down through generations. Eating here feels less like going to a restaurant and more like showing up at a relative's house where someone happens to cook brilliantly, and that's exactly why Michelin picked it as a new Bib Gourmand for 2026 despite how few guests it can actually seat.

The format is a set meal per table — there's no à la carte menu to pick dishes from one at a time. The chef puts together a full spread based on his grandmother's home recipes, and the fun part is that the menu changes every 2 months, so anyone who goes this month and again four months later will get an entirely different spread. Budget runs roughly THB 800-1,000 per head and up (one example from a real review: a set for 8 people came to about THB 6,930), which, weighed against the intention behind the food and the experience of eating inside someone's actual home, is a price you can mention to a friend without any need to justify it. One thing worth knowing before you set your heart on going: Keawloon has the fewest seats of any restaurant on the 2026 Bib Gourmand list — open just twice a day, around noon and 6pm, with only 2-3 tables per seating, and bookings only taken in groups of 2-8 per table. Booking goes through Instagram @keawloonbkk, then adding LINE from the QR code with your name, party size, and date, plus a deposit once confirmed. Seats fill up fast every time the restaurant opens a new month's booking window, and missing that window can mean waiting a month for the next one. But that difficulty is exactly what makes the meal, once you land it, feel like it carries real weight — every table in that house is there because they truly wanted to be.
