SANN is a brand-new name that landed a Bib Gourmand in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026 despite only opening its doors in March 2025 — earning a spot in the guide in its very first year, which doesn't happen often. The restaurant is a renovated old teak house set in a fruit orchard in the Bang Yai area of Nonthaburi, on Bang Yai–Bang Khu Lat Road, in the stretch near Ratchaphruek that Bangkokians already like to drive out to for a weekend meal. What caught MICHELIN's attention wasn't luxury — it was a genuine commitment to rarely-seen Phetchaburi provincial recipes, to the point that MICHELIN's inspectors called it 'an honest taste of central Thailand'. The restaurant also sources its produce directly from local farmers — a small place with big ideas about the roots of its food.

The dish MICHELIN's inspectors singled out for praise is the palm-shoot curry with grilled pork — a curry of young palm shoots in fresh-pressed coconut milk, served with fragrant grilled pork, a true Phetchaburi dish that almost no restaurant in greater Bangkok serves. Another standout is the flash-fried river prawn dusted with sea salt — a large prawn fried over high heat and finished with sea salt, simple but an honest test of skill. There's also crab curry with chakhram leaves (THB 540), which uses the naturally salty seaside chakhram leaf to cut through the richness of the crab curry, and som chun (THB 120), an old-style sweet that's cool and refreshing, perfect for closing out a meal in the heat. Overall, prices are far friendlier than the food's presentation suggests — crispy pumpkin with salted-egg sauce is THB 168, kaphrao beef with fried duck egg is THB 180, stir-fried lotus stems with fresh prawns is THB 250, and grilled pork with jaew is THB 468; two people ordering a spread will land around 500–1,000 THB per person.

Atmosphere is the extra pull that makes the drive out to Bang Yai worth it — you can sit in the air-conditioned zone inside the teak house or in the open-air section catching the orchard breeze, looking out at actual fruit trees rather than a staged garden. It suits both a Sunday lunch with your parents and a catch-up with friends who want Thai food with a story behind it. The restaurant has its own car park and takes Visa, Mastercard, and JCB credit cards. The one thing to plan around is transport — the nearest Purple Line MRT stations near Bang Yai are more than three kilometres away, so this is genuinely car territory. But for a bowl of palm-shoot curry you can't get anywhere else, the distance is worth it.

Budget per person runs around 500–1,000 THB à la carte — small dishes like som chun start at THB 120, up to crab curry with chakhram leaves at THB 540, an easy price for a brand-new Bib Gourmand restaurant. There's no booking platform of any kind — you'll need to call 066-137-6749 or message the restaurant's official Facebook/Instagram page directly. Because it just earned its Bib Gourmand in 2026, weekends will noticeably get busier, so calling ahead every time is recommended, especially for a weekend lunch.

Getting there means driving — the restaurant is on Bang Yai–Bang Khu Lat Road, Bang Yai district, Nonthaburi, and the nearest Purple Line MRT stations near Bang Yai are more than 3 km away, so walking isn't practical. The restaurant has its own car park and accepts credit cards. Hours per MICHELIN are daily 11:00–22:00 (Wongnai lists Mon–Thu 11:00–21:00, Fri–Sun 11:00–22:00). If you want a seat in the open-air garden-view section without the heat, a weekday lunch or an evening after the sun has eased off is the best time to go.
