Driving the Mittraphap Highway through Saraburi toward Khao Yai, Muak Lek is the stop many people plan around specifically for fresh milk. This is where the Thai-Denmark Dairy Farm was established in 1962 — Thailand's first dairy farm. The milk sold here isn't supermarket carton stuff: it's pasteurised and packaged close to the source, which means a fresher, naturally sweeter taste than long-life versions. We've ranked the stops from the main farm itself down to the small roadside stalls, based on value and how worthwhile the detour is.
Fresh Milk, Yogurt & Ice Cream — Ranked
Thai-Denmark Dairy Farm (OSSC Muak Lek)
The source of all that red-cow milk. Located right on Mittraphap Highway in Tambon Mittraphap, you can buy pasteurised fresh milk, real-cow yogurt, and milk ice cream at the factory gate. If you have time, grab a tram ticket to tour the farm — you'll see milking demonstrations and a cowboy show. It's the only stop where you get both the product and the full backstory.
Thai-Denmark Milk Land (Inside OSSC Complex)
The official Thai-Denmark café inside the factory grounds — air-conditioned and comfortable. Menu covers flavoured fresh milk, blended yogurt, milk tea, milk latte, coffee, cake, and ice cream. A good spot to cool down before entering the farm. The milk flavour is clean and not overly sweet, and prices are reasonable.
Thai-Denmark Milk Land (Branch 2 — Opposite the Farm)
The branch across the highway from the Thai-Denmark farm — easier to park if you're just grabbing things to go. Same core menu: flavoured fresh milk, iced cocoa, fruit smoothies, and baked goods. Best for people who want to pick up milk, yogurt, and ice cream and get back on the road quickly.
Farm-Fresh Milk Ice Cream (Red-Cow Style)
Pretty much everyone who comes to Muak Lek tries one of these. The ice cream is dense and milky — made from real cow's milk — in plain milk, chocolate, and seasonal fruit flavours. Available at Milk Land branches and small stalls in front of the farm. A solid way to cool off while you walk around.
OSSC Real-Cow Yogurt
Made from 100% cow's milk, this yogurt has a gentle tang without being sharp. Comes in cup form (eat on the spot) and drinkable versions (take home). If you're taking it back to Bangkok, pack a small cooler bag — it's a popular health-conscious souvenir alongside fresh milk.
Muak Lek Dairy Cooperative
Run by the local dairy farming cooperative, this shop sells fresh milk and dairy products sourced directly from member farms in the area. A good option if you want to put money straight into local farmers' hands rather than the larger brand. Usually located near the Muak Lek souvenir strip.
Flavoured Fresh Milk to Take Home (Red-Cow Souvenir Packs)
Crates of pasteurised milk — plain, sweet, chocolate, and coffee — are among the most popular things people carry back to Bangkok. Sold by the bottle, pack, or full crate. Go pasteurised if you'll finish it within a few days and have somewhere cold to keep it; pick UHT if you need it to last longer or have a long drive ahead.
Pasteurised vs. UHT — which to choose
Pasteurised milk tastes fresher and naturally sweeter, but needs refrigeration and should be consumed within 5–7 days. If you're driving a long way or want to keep it longer, grab UHT instead. Bringing a small cooler bag makes a big difference when you're loading up on fresh milk and yogurt to take home.

Popular Muak Lek Souvenirs to Bring Back
Beyond fresh milk and ice cream, Muak Lek has a cluster of other souvenirs people regularly pick up at the same time. The souvenir shops are concentrated along the Mittraphap Highway through the district and around the farm — one loop covers everything.
- Fresh Milk & Red-Cow Yogurt — the star of the show here. Buy in packs or crates from the farm gate and Milk Land.
- Milk Ice Cream & Compressed Milk Tablets — the ice cream is great on the spot; the tablets keep well and travel easily as a take-home snack.
- Curry Puffs (Karipap) — a classic Saraburi pairing with milk; look for karipap shops along the Mittraphap Highway stretch.
- Local Fruit & Farm Produce — seasonal depending on time of year: custard apples, corn, and vegetables from the Muak Lek–Khao Yai area.
How to Get the Most Out of a Muak Lek Dairy Stop
Quick Roadside Stop
Park at Milk Land Branch 2 (opposite the farm), pick up fresh milk, yogurt, and ice cream, and you're back on the road in under 20 minutes.
Full Farm Visit
Enter the OSSC complex, buy a tram ticket, watch milking demos, feed the calves, and catch the cowboy show. Great with kids — allow around half a day.
Café Sit-Down
Grab a table inside Milk Land's air-conditioned café, order a blended yogurt and iced milk tea, and rest before the drive up to Khao Yai.
Things to know before you go
On long weekends, Mittraphap Highway through Muak Lek gets congested and the farm shops can get very busy. If you want a relaxed visit, aim to arrive before 10:00. The farm and milk cafés close around 16:30, so arriving late may mean missing the tram activities inside the farm.
