Muak Lek is a small district at the southern tip of Saraburi province, right on the border with Pak Chong and Khao Yai. The air is cooler than the plains, and long stretches of grazing land made it one of Thailand's largest dairy-farming zones since 1962. At the centre of the area is Thai-Danish Dairy Farm — officially the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (DPO), better known as the producer of the red-carton milk most of us grew up drinking. The farm is open to the public for genuine, up-close farm experiences.
Farm Activities Kids Love
Thai-Danish runs guided tram tours rather than free-roaming visits, which actually works well for families — there's always a guide leading the group, no one gets lost, and the route hits all the activity stations in order.
Bottle-Feed a Calf
The highlight that gets the most screams — and the most laughs. You hold a large bottle and feed a hungry calf that tugs so hard the bottle shakes. Some kids startle the first time, then burst out giggling. It's also the moment parents get their best photos of the trip. Staff are right there the whole time.
Farm Tram Ride
The open tram rolls through the pastures and cattle pens — cool breeze, green views, kids enjoy the ride while adults snap photos of the countryside. The tram departs on a scheduled loop, so you don't have to walk much at all. Good option on a hot afternoon.
Milking Demonstration
See exactly where the milk in your fridge comes from — from cow to processing. Some sessions let kids try hand-milking themselves. It's the kind of real-world learning you can't get from a book, and kids genuinely pay attention.
Cowboy Show
Certain sessions include a cowboy show with horse riding and cattle herding — it gives the farm a fun, ranch-like feel that boys in particular tend to love. Not available every session, so check the schedule with the farm before you go.
Natural Farming Centre — Composting Demo
A learning zone focused on the King's sufficiency-economy agricultural principles, with demos on making fertiliser from fresh milk and feeding fish. A quieter stop — older kids will get more out of it; younger ones may just watch.
Fresh Milk Ice Cream & Farm Shop
Before heading out, stop at the farm shop. The fresh milk ice cream is dense, clearly milky, and just sweet enough — the kids' reward for finishing the tour. You can also pick up pasteurised milk in various flavours, yoghurt, and milk tablets as souvenirs.
Tour Times
Thai-Danish Dairy Farm is open roughly 8:30 AM–4:30 PM. Farm tour rounds run in the morning (9:00 / 10:00 / 11:00 AM) and afternoon (1:00 / 2:00 / 3:00 PM). Morning rounds are recommended — cooler air and more active cows. Prices and exact schedules can change by season, so call the farm before you set off.

Nearby Stops That Pair Well
Muak Lek has several nature and agri-tourism spots within easy driving distance of the dairy farm. All of these can be added to the same day without feeling rushed.
Chet Sao Noi Waterfall
A tiered, shallow waterfall where kids can safely wade in the water. Open approx. 8:30 AM–4:30 PM. Adults approx. ฿120, children approx. ฿50. Pairs perfectly with the dairy farm for a full day.
NatureMuak Lek Waterfall
A shaded waterfall inside a national park area, with a suspension bridge over the stream. A pleasant, easy walk — good for cooling down after the farm tour.
Phu Nawa Phan Vineyard
A wide vineyard where you can see the growing process, take photos among the grape clusters, and buy vineyard products as gifts. A different kind of agri-tourism that works well alongside the dairy farm.
One-Day Itinerary with Kids
Leave Bangkok early and you can fit both the dairy farm and a waterfall into a single comfortable day. Here's a pacing that works for families with young children — not rushed, not boring.

Getting There from Bangkok
Thai-Danish Dairy Farm sits along Mittraphap Road in Tambon Mittraphap, Muak Lek district — it's well signposted and easy to find. By car, take the motorway or Phahon Yothin Road toward Saraburi, then continue on Mittraphap Road in the direction of Pak Chong. About 150 km from Bangkok, roughly 2–2.5 hours. If you don't have a car, buses and minivans on the Bangkok–Pak Chong/Nakhon Ratchasima route stop at Muak Lek, from where local transport can get you to the farm — but having your own vehicle is much more practical since the attractions are spread out.
What to Bring
Pack a hat, sunscreen, and drinking water — most activities are outdoors. Wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty; the farm has soil and grass underfoot. If you have young children, bring a spare change of clothes in case they get messy feeding the calves or splashing at the waterfall. Morning visits are significantly more comfortable than afternoons when the sun is at its strongest.
