Pathum Thani
in 2 Days, 1 Night

Pathum Thani sits right next to Bangkok — just a few dozen minutes by car. But cross over into Khlong Luang and Sam Khok and the scenery flips fast into rice fields, centuries-old Mon temples, and riverside markets. This plan covers 2 days and 1 night: start with the big museums on the Khlong Luang side, then a cafe out among the fields, and on day two soak up the Mon way of life in Sam Khok and its old market. It works whether you're going with friends or bringing the family.

Pathum Thani in 2 Days, 1 Night

🔄 Updated 21 Jun 2026

The nice thing about Pathum Thani is how close it is — no need to take a long leave; a weekend is plenty. Driving from Bangkok, take Phahonyothin Road or the road along Rangsit Canal. No car? Take the SRT Red Line to Rangsit or Chiang Rak station, then grab a taxi or motorbike to the main spots. This plan groups places that are near each other into the same day so you're not wasting time crossing back and forth between districts.

Day 1 — Khlong Luang: Museums + a Rice-Field Cafe

Day one stays on the Khlong Luang side the whole time. This zone packs two big museums and a rice-field cafe close together. Spend the morning in the cool, indoor museums, head out in the afternoon to a cafe to catch the breeze, then check into your hotel in town or around Rangsit come evening.

A rice-field cafe around Khlong 3–Khlong 5This area has plenty of field-view cafes — like Triple Tree Cafe & Garden (Khlong 3, with a koi pond and a forest garden) or canal-side spots facing the fields. Drinks start at 60–90 THB. Go in the late afternoon when the sun is softer.
18:30
Check in + find dinner around RangsitFuture Park Rangsit and Rangsit Market have plenty to eat and room to wander. If you're craving boat noodles, there are several shops in this area.

Day 2 — Sam Khok: Mon Culture, Old Temples, Riverside Market

Day two crosses over to Sam Khok, a small district on the Chao Phraya River that's been a Mon community since the late Ayutthaya period. It still holds onto ancient temples, pottery kilns, and Mon food. The pace is slow — ideal for a photo walk and visiting temples in the cooler morning hours.

Day 2

Straight talk

Sam Khok is a quiet place — the food and well-known shops are busiest on weekends. Come on a weekday and some shops are closed, so check their pages before you set out. Rahaeng Market is open on weekdays too but far quieter; for the full atmosphere, come on a weekend.
