Ploenchit – Wireless Rd is a neighborhood where old and new sit unusually close together. A short walk from BTS Ploenchit drops you straight into Nai Lert Park, hiding a century-old teak house, while Wireless Road and Ruamrudee Soi just beyond are thick with embassies and international restaurants. Here's a route we've actually mapped out — starting with morning coffee in the garden, moving through the old house, a Michelin-listed lunch, a Thai-style church, embassy row, and finishing at a chocolate cafe tucked into a quiet lane. Every stop here is a real place people in this neighborhood recommend to each other.
Suggested route
Morning to afternoon — French cafe, Nai Lert Park Heritage Home, a Michelin-listed lunch, a Thai-style church, Embassy Row, a chocolate cafe
A timing trick so the days line up
Nai Lert Park Heritage Home is closed Monday and Tuesday, so avoid those two days if you want to tour the teak house. As for getting back, BTS Ploenchit sits directly on the Sukhumvit line, so you can ride straight to Siam or over toward Asok–Ekkamai without changing trains. If you're heading to Suvarnabhumi Airport, connect to the Airport Rail Link at Makkasan station, which isn't far from this neighborhood.
Adjust the plan to your time and style
Ploenchit and Wireless Road is the embassy-and-old-houses quarter, quieter than the mall belt next door. Its appeal is shade and architecture, so shape the plan around what interests you.
- Only three hours: keep Nai Lert Park Heritage Home → lunch at Ma Maison → the Wireless Road walk. History, a proper meal and the embassy-district atmosphere in one line.
- Here for architecture and history: give the heritage home more time — it holds the Nai Lert family's collection and story — then add Holy Redeemer Church, a rare Thai-style Catholic church.
- With kids: this district involves a lot of open-air walking and has no dedicated play stop. With small children, cut the Wireless Road stretch and shift to neighbouring Central Embassy or Central Chidlom.
- Shooting photos: late afternoon light suits both the heritage home and Wireless Road, so start at midday instead and finish at Tempered in the early evening.
💡 Know before you go: Ploenchit-Wireless Road
BTS Ploen Chit is the best base — the heritage home and Wireless Road are a few hundred metres away, and a skywalk carries you onward to Chidlom.
Around 800-1,500 baht. The heritage home charges admission, while Holy Redeemer Church and the Wireless Road walk are free. Check the ticket price and tour times in advance.
Unlike the malls, the heritage home and several restaurants here close one day a week. Confirm before you set out so the trip is not wasted.
Wireless Road is shaded but not covered. When it rains, move to Central Embassy via the skywalk and come back to the walk once it eases.
