Ramayana Water Park opened in 2016 and is one of the largest water parks in Thailand and across Asia, spread over more than 170,000 square metres. What parents like most is how clearly it splits by age: little ones get shallow pools and gentle low slides, while older kids and adults get taller slides and a wave pool. Everyone in the family has their own patch, so you're not stuck watching from a deck chair all day, and because it's so big, even on busy days you can usually find room to play.
Highlights for kids
The park is divided into several zones, but the ones young children love most are the shallow areas built just for them, where parents can wade in too — no worrying about deep water. Older kids can burn off energy on the slides and in the wave pool. These are the zones families tend to head for first:
- Mermaid Lagoon — a newer zone for little ones with four low slides, some wide enough for a parent to slide down alongside their child.
- Lanka Town — another kids' zone with four gentle slides, including a twin slide so two children can go together.
- Wave Pool — a large wave pool with a 160-metre sandy beach; the waves are mild enough for older children to enjoy.
- Lazy River — a roughly 600-metre float on a rubber ring around the park, a nice rest between slides.
- Big thrill slides — like Aqua Conda and Python, aimed at older kids and adults who want a rush (they have minimum-height limits, so small children can't ride them).
- Water playgrounds and the giant tipping bucket — two in-water playgrounds with a huge bucket that dumps water at intervals; kids love waiting under it.
Tips for a fun day with kids
Pattaya sun is strong, so put water-resistant sunscreen on children before they go in and reapply through the day; a long-sleeve rash guard helps a lot. Bring your own change of clothes and towels (the park rents towels, but for a fee), and for younger children arm bands or a proper life vest add peace of mind. Midday is the busiest and hottest — consider a shaded lunch break, then head back out in the afternoon when the queues are shorter.
Before you go
- Opening hours — roughly 11:00–18:00, closed every Wednesday. Check the official website or page again before you go in case of seasonal changes.
- Approx. price — booking online in advance is around ฿799 per person (the gate price is usually higher). Children under 106 cm tall enter free. Prices are approximate and vary by season and by each site's promotion.
- Getting there — it's in Na Chom Thian, Sattahip, about 20 km south of central Pattaya — roughly a 20–30 minute drive, or about 1.5 hours from Bangkok. Shared round-trip transfers from Pattaya hotels can be booked as an add-on.
- Good for which ages — from toddlers (there are separate shallow zones) up to teenagers. The bigger slides usually have a minimum height, so small children stick to the kids' zones.
Safety and what to know
The park has lifeguards on duty, but parents should stay close to their children, especially in the wave pool and deeper pools — don't let small kids swim alone. The ticket is good value if you plan to spend the whole day and use several zones, and booking online in advance is cheaper than paying at the gate. One thing worth knowing beforehand: parts of the park keep animals, and some visitor reviews have raised concerns about the animals' welfare. If your family cares about this, you can simply skip that area and spend the day on the water attractions.
