Dusit Thani Bangkok — a 50-year legend reborn in a new tower, every room facing Lumpini Park
The name Dusit Thani has meant something in Bangkok since 1970, but the building standing on the Sala Daeng–Rama IV corner today is entirely new — opened 27 September 2024, 39 storeys tall, inside the Dusit Central Park complex. 257 rooms starting at 50 sqm, designed by André Fu Studio, every single one looking out over Lumpini Park. Families coming to be near Chulalongkorn Hospital can reach it in about 10 minutes on foot. Rooms from approx. THB 11,000/night.
The original Dusit Thani opened in 1970 and for a while was the tallest building in Bangkok. That tower is gone now, but the name and the spirit have been transferred into an entirely new 39-storey building that opened in late 2024. Dusit Central Park is a mixed-use complex combining the Dusit Thani hotel, Dusit Parkside residences, the Central Park Mall and office space — everything within one connected structure. It's worth understanding this upfront because the hotel's appeal is partly that it puts the mall, restaurants and transport links all at arm's reach.
What guest reviews mention most is the park view. Each room has a six-metre-wide floor-to-ceiling window framing Lumpini Park, Bangkok's largest green space, from first light through to the city lights at night. Designed by André Fu Studio, the rooms carry warm wood finishes, woven Thai textiles and Japanese Toto toilets in the bathroom. All rooms start at 50 sqm — generous by Bangkok five-star standards — and there are corner rooms where a second glass wall widens the view even further.
"The park view fills the entire window. The room is enormous, everything feels premium — and it's perfect if you need to visit Chulalongkorn Hospital. Just walked over and back easily."
Dining is a serious part of the offer. Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, the Michelin-starred Italian restaurant, sits inside the hotel. Pavilion serves Thai and Chinese food using ingredients from around Thailand, including less familiar regional recipes. The Spire Rooftop Bar at the top of the building has a 360-degree panorama taking in Lumpini Park, the Silom skyline and the Chao Phraya beyond. Breakfast — both à la carte and buffet — receives solid praise for variety, though a handful of reviews note that orders occasionally arrived confused during busy mornings.
The location is excellent for both visitors and medical travellers. The hotel sits at the Rama IV–Sala Daeng corner of Lumpini Park. BTS Sala Daeng station is a two-minute walk, connecting directly to the Silom Line. MRT Silom station is about five to seven minutes on foot. For families coming to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (Thai Red Cross): from the BTS Sala Daeng platform a covered skywalk leads directly to the hospital's Por Por Ror Building — the full door-to-door journey is around 8–10 minutes, under cover the whole way, which makes a real difference in Bangkok heat or rain.
Because the hotel only opened in September 2024, review volume is still building — 520 reviews on Trip.com at the time of writing, compared with several thousand for a hotel that has been open for years. The earliest reviews noted some teething issues: delayed check-ins, a few menu items unavailable at Pavilion and some communication gaps. Reviews from early to mid-2025 show a noticeably smoother operation, and the overall score has settled at a strong 9.4/10. The hardware — rooms, pool, spa, restaurants — has attracted consistent praise from the beginning.
Rates start from around THB 11,000–13,000/night for a Deluxe Park View in the regular season, rising to THB 18,000–20,000+ for Club Rooms and THB 30,000+ for suites. If this stay is a base for hospital visits, the combination of a 50-sqm room, an infinity pool, Toto bathrooms and a ten-minute walk to Chulalongkorn may well justify the rate — especially compared to scrambling to smaller hotels nearby. For business travellers and tourists, the direct BTS connection to Siam, Silom and Sathorn makes the location very practical.

- 💡If you want the feel of a classic heritage hotel — this is an entirely new building with contemporary architecture, not a preserved historic property like Mandarin Oriental → for riverfront heritage atmosphere, look at hotels in the Bang Rak–Charoen Krung area instead.
- 💡If budget is the priority and you mainly need somewhere close to Chulalongkorn Hospital — THB 11,000+/night for a Deluxe room is a big outlay → At Ease Saladaeng by AETAS is in the same neighbourhood at a fraction of the price and also within walking distance of the hospital.
- 💡If you want to book in the months right after opening — the Spire Rooftop Bar and Club Lounge took time to open fully in late 2024 → confirm current facility availability before booking, as the property is still settling into full operation.
