Samet Nangshe sits in Khlong Khian sub-district, Takua Thung, Phang Nga — right on the border with Phuket. What makes it special is a low hill that faces Phang Nga Bay at just the right angle, giving you a panorama of oddly shaped limestone karsts poking out of the water in every direction. Some people compare it to the James Bond Island backdrop, which sits in the same bay.
The real draw is sunrise. The viewpoint faces east, so on days when the air is still and humidity is right, mist hangs low around the karsts in the bay. That said, let's be straight about it: sea mist doesn't show up every day. Your best odds are late rainy season through early cool season. Days without mist still give you a solid sunrise over the limestone peaks — worth the trip on its own.
Entry Fees & Truck Ride Up
The viewpoint sits on a ridge above the car park — the access road is steep and unpaved, so most visitors take the local pickup trucks up rather than walking or driving a regular car.
- Site entry / maintenance fee — around 30 THB per person
- Pickup truck up and down — around 90 THB per person (round trip), so roughly 120 THB per person total
- If you walk up yourself — you only pay the 30 THB site fee, but the slope is pretty steep so wear proper footwear
- Prices may change; bring cash since not every spot up top accepts transfers
Tip
If you're coming for sunrise, aim to reach the lower car park at least 30–45 min before first light — you'll need time for the truck ride up and finding a good spot for your camera. The pre-dawn trucks fill up fast; arriving early gets you on sooner.

Overnight Camping at Samet Nangshe
One of the best things about this spot is being able to sleep up top. Wake up, unzip your tent, and Phang Nga Bay is right there — no rushing to catch an early truck. There's a designated camping area on the viewpoint ridge with tents available to rent, or you can pitch your own.
- Tent rental (set up for you) — around 350 THB (2 people) to 450 THB (3 people) per night
- Bring your own tent — site fee around 100 THB per night
- There are shared bathrooms and a small food stall on site, but options are limited — bring your own water and snacks to be comfortable
- Nights on the ridge are windy and noticeably cooler than the base; pack a light windbreaker or thin blanket
If camping isn't your thing, Beyond Skywalk Nangshi opened on the same ridge — it has a glass-floor skywalk jutting out over the cliff face with the same bay views. They offer glamping tents and pavilions, at a considerably higher price point than the basic campsite. Good fit if you want comfort and aren't watching the budget.
Samet Nangshe Viewpoint Campsite
Sleep on the ridge right above Phang Nga Bay — rent a tent or bring your own. Low-key camp atmosphere, wake up to full bay views.
Beyond Skywalk Nangshi
Resort on the same ridge with a cliff-edge skywalk, glamping tents and pavilions. Good pick if you want comfort over roughing it.
Getting to Samet Nangshe
Samet Nangshe is reasonably easy to reach by car — it sits near the Phuket–Phang Nga border. Rough reference points: about 40 km from Phang Nga town, around 70 km from Phuket, and roughly 75 km from Khao Lak.
- Self-drive / car rental — the easiest option; drop a pin in Google Maps. The final 15 min or so before the car park is on a narrow, rough road — take it slow
- Coming from Phuket — about 1–1.5 hours; cross Sarasin Bridge into Phang Nga, then turn off toward Khlong Khian
- Coming from Khao Lak — drive south around 1–1.5 hours; pairs well with a Khao Lak trip
- No car — hire a private driver or join a sunrise tour; public transport doesn't reach this spot reliably, especially for the pre-dawn run
Weather note
Sea mist is down to humidity and luck — nobody can guarantee it. If the forecast shows clear skies and calm winds, your chances go up. If there's heavy rain, the path up will be slippery; reschedule if you can.
