First, a quick lay of the land. Samui nightlife splits into three main areas. Bophut – Fisherman's Village is the chill one: sit back, sip something, watch a fire show, soak up the old-town vibe · Chaweng Beach is the centre of the fun, with beach clubs that party from afternoon into the night, the big clubs, and a strip of bars · while Lamai Beach is more low-key than Chaweng, a slightly older crowd, live reggae and classic rock. This three-night plan covers all three.
Night 1 — Bophut Fisherman's Village, chill by the sea
Keep the first night easy. Start at Bophut Fisherman's Village, the row of old Chinese shophouses on the north coast of the island. Wander, snack, sip a cocktail, then finish at a beach bar watching a fire show. It's a good night for couples or for anyone who just landed and is a bit worn out.
Bophut · chill by the sea
Pick your seat early
At beach bars like CoCo Tam's, the sand-side cushion seats fill up fast from sunset into the early evening. If you want a clear view of the fire show, grab a seat before 19:00 and you'll have an easier time.
Book the activities in your Koh Samui trip ahead
Booking online ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide is usually cheaper than the gate and skips the queue. Pick only the experiences you actually want — prices and availability are shown live on each site.
Night 2 — Chaweng Beach, beach clubs and dancing on the sand
Tonight you move to Chaweng Beach, the heart of the island's fun. Start at a beach club in the evening, sit by the water with a DJ playing, then drift into the bar zone. If you fancy something a bit fancier, there's Woo Bar at W Samui with seats sunk into a reflecting pool over the sea view, though prices match the hotel's level.
Ark Bar Beach Club
The Chaweng regular. There's a pool party on the sand every day from around 2pm, with DJs and fire shows, and it gets packed at night. Good for anyone who wants to dance barefoot on the beach.
CoCo Tam's
The real chill spot, over in Bophut. Sandbag cushions by the water, swing seats at the bar, fire-spinning most nights. Better for settling in and talking than for dancing.
Woo Bar (W Koh Samui)
A luxury hotel bar with seats sunk into a reflecting pool facing the sea, signature cocktails, prices to match the level. Good for photos and a nice atmosphere to sip in.
SEEN Beach Club
A stylish beach club with DJ sets, a pool and seating by the water, and a slightly more dressed-up crowd. Good if you want an upscale feel but still room to dance.
The Deck
A seaside cocktail bar with a chiller tone than the party beach clubs, easy DJ sets. Good for a drink before or after you head out dancing somewhere else.
Chaweng · beach club + dancing
Drink prices, straight up
Drinks in beach clubs and clubs are usually 2–3x the price of a convenience-store beer. A lot of people start with cheap beers from a shop first, then hit the club later in the night. Cocktails at beach bars start around ฿120–350 depending on the place, and prices climb in high season.
Night 3 — Soi Green Mango, big clubs and live music
Tonight is for serious dancers. Soi Green Mango in Chaweng is the island's big-club street. Green Mango Club has a huge dance floor that holds over a thousand people, with chart music and DJs. Nearby is Soi Reggae, where the two-storey Reggae Pub plays live music with a packed dance floor running late. If you want something more relaxed, head to Lamai Beach, where the bars are smaller, the music is reggae and classic rock, and the crowd is a wider mix of ages.
- Green Mango Club — the biggest superclub dance floor in Chaweng, chart music, Thai and international DJs. It starts filling up after midnight and is usually at its liveliest around 2am, once Ark Bar closes
- Reggae Pub (Soi Reggae) — a two-storey pub with live music and a big dance floor, busy and laid-back, open late
- Small beer bars in the soi — pool tables and cheaper drinks than the big clubs, good for warming up before you hit the dance floor
- Lamai Beach — more low-key than Chaweng, small bars, live reggae/rock, good if you don't want it too loud

Party smart — what to know before you head out
Samui is a great place for a night out, but it's a tourist island and there are things to watch for. We want you to have fun and get home in one piece, so here's the honest rundown.
- Drink in moderation and watch your own glass — only drink from a glass that's been in your sight, don't accept drinks from strangers, and if you put it down and walk off, just order a fresh one
- Get back to your hotel safely — book a ride through an app or always agree on the price before you get on, settle the fare clearly, don't head back alone late at night, and plan to leave with your friends
- Riding a motorbike home drunk = don't — many roads on the island are steep and dark, and motorbike accidents on Samui are common. If you've been drinking, call a ride and don't drive yourself
- Valuables and passport — carry only what you need, leave your passport at the hotel, and keep your bag on you in crowded spots
- Check the weather if you plan to swim at night — some people like getting in the sea after a party, but when the wind and waves pick up or it's raining, stay out of the water, especially while drinking. You can't see the currents in the dark
- Set a budget in your head — beach clubs and clubs can have cover charges, minimum spends, and bar-priced drinks. Carry some backup cash and know your card limit
The season changes the vibe
In high season (roughly Dec–Apr), clubs and beach clubs are packed, there are lots of events, and drink and hotel prices climb · during the monsoon (roughly Oct–Nov) it rains often and some beachside events may be cancelled, so always check the venue's page before you go.
Pick the night that fits your style
With your partner / want to chill
Focus on Night 1 in Bophut, a beach bar watching the fire show, quiet cocktails, no need for a big club to have a good time
With a group of friends / want to party
Do Night 2 at the Chaweng beach clubs, then carry on to Night 3 on Soi Green Mango and dance until late, and plan to leave together
On a budget
Start with convenience-store beers, walk the Friday Walking Street in Bophut, then pick just one club night
