SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World is an indoor aquarium on the basement levels (B1–B2) of Siam Paragon mall in central Bangkok. Inside, it's split into zones by marine habitat, with over 400 species — sharks, rays, seahorses, clownfish and penguins among them. The part kids love most is the underwater glass tunnel you walk through while fish glide overhead. It's an easy family outing: it's inside the mall, air-conditioned, step-free, and you never have to face the sun or the rain.

Highlights for kids

The route loops through several zones one after another, each with tanks and glass panels children can press their noses right up against. These are the spots where kids tend to linger longest.

  • Ocean tunnel — a curved glass walkway of about 270° with sharks, rays and shoals of fish swimming all around and above you. This is the moment kids get most excited about.
  • Penguin zone — a chilled, polar-themed room where several penguin species swim and waddle about on real ice.
  • Shark Walk — a clear glass floor over a shark pool; look down and you'll see sharks cruising beneath your feet, a favourite dare for older kids.
  • Seahorses and coral reef — seahorse tanks, clownfish (Nemo) and bright coral that little ones love pointing at as they hunt for Nemo.
  • 4D cinema — a short ocean-themed film with water-spray, wind and scent effects, with showings through the day.
  • Feeding times — there's a schedule for feedings and for divers going into the big tank; check the times at the information desk.

Tips for visiting with kids

Arrive at opening around 10:00 on a weekday when it's quieter, so children can stand at the tanks for as long as they like without jostling. If you're bringing a little one, pack a light jacket — the penguin zone gets very cold. Strollers roll through the whole route, and it's worth jotting down the feeding-time schedule in advance so you don't miss the liveliest part of the visit.

Before you go

  • Opening hours — open daily, roughly 10:00–20:00 (last entry around 19:00).
  • Approximate ticket prices — adults about ฿1,090 at the counter; booking ahead on the official site or a ticket app is usually cheaper (around ฿980). Children pay less than adults, and very young children often enter free. Prices are approximate and can change, so check the official site before you go.
  • Getting there — it's on levels B1–B2 of Siam Paragon; take the BTS to Siam station and walk straight into the mall without stepping outside. If you drive, the mall has parking.
  • Which ages it suits — good for all ages, from babies in strollers to teenagers. The indoor route is flat and stroller-friendly, and a visit takes about 1.5–2 hours.

Value and something to weigh up

The admission is on the pricey side compared with other Bangkok attractions, so booking online ahead saves money and lets you skip the queue. And to be straight with you: this is an aquarium that keeps marine animals in tanks. Some visitors see it as a place for kids to learn about the ocean, while others question keeping large animals like sharks, rays and penguins in a confined space. SEA LIFE says it runs conservation and breeding programmes. Weigh it up and decide what your family is comfortable with.
