Singha Park Chiang Rai
Rolling Tea Fields and Giraffes to Feed, a Full Day With Kids

Singha Park Chiang Rai — locals still call it Boon Rawd Farm — is a huge tea estate and working farm owned by the Singha family, opened up so families can ride through the green tea fields, feed giraffes and zebras up close, cycle in the breeze and pose with the giant golden lion that marks the entrance. It is the kind of place where kids can run around all day instead of being cooped up indoors.

Singha Park sits on the edge of Chiang Rai, about 12 km from town, spread across rolling hills of oolong tea and farmland. What kids love is the wide open space to run, a tram that tours the estate, animal corners where you can feed the animals by hand, and a big plaza for photos with the giant golden lion that is the park's mascot. Entry to the main grounds is free — you only pay for the activities you choose — so it is easy for families to keep the budget in check.

Highlights for kids

There is a corner for every age here, from feeding animals to more adventurous rides. Here is what your children are most likely to fall for.

  • Feeding giraffes and zebras — the moment kids squeal over most. Buy a bag of bananas or carrots for about ฿20 and hold it up while a giraffe lowers its long neck to eat from your hand. Feeding runs in timed sessions.
  • The farm tram through the tea fields — an open-sided trailer that rolls past the green tea rows, stopping at photo spots and animal corners. Perfect for little legs that can't walk far.
  • Other animals — beyond the giraffes and zebras there are long-horned Watusi cattle, capybaras and Sun Conure parrots for kids to see up close.
  • Cycling in the breeze — rent bikes and pedal the smooth, wide lanes around the estate, a gentle bit of exercise for the whole family (children's bikes and child seats are available).
  • Zipline and adventure activities — for older kids and teens who want a thrill, with staff on hand and safety gear provided.
  • The golden lion plaza and cafe — the park's signature photo spot, with a tea house and cafe where parents can sip oolong while the kids run around.

Tips for bringing kids to Singha Park

Come in the morning (it opens at 8:30am) while the air is still cool and the sun is soft — kids have far more fun than in the hot afternoon. Bring hats, sunscreen, drinking water and closed shoes, as you'll walk on grass and gentle slopes. If feeding the giraffes is a must, check the session times with staff first so you don't miss the window when the animals come out.

Before you go

  • Opening hours — daily, roughly 8:30am to 5:00pm (some activities stop selling tickets before the park closes).
  • Admission — the grounds are free to enter and photos with the golden lion cost nothing; you only pay for activities. The farm tram is about ฿150 for adults and ฿50 for children (under 110 cm), animal food is around ฿20 a bag, bike hire about ฿150/hour and the zipline about ฿300 (prices are approximate and may change — check on site).
  • Getting there — about 12 km from central Chiang Rai, a 20-minute drive by car, taxi or rental. Just search "Singha Park Chiang Rai" on Google Maps; there is a large car park.
  • Which ages it suits — good for all ages, from toddlers in strollers (the paved slopes roll easily) to teens on the zipline. The grounds are wide, so keep an adult close by.

Safety and value

Because it is an open farm, keep little ones close by when you are near the animals and while the tram is moving. Only feed the animals the food the park provides — not your own snacks. On value: if you don't do every activity you only pay for what you use, and simply strolling the tea fields for photos plus one round of animal feeding makes a fun day out for just a few hundred baht.

FAQ

What are Singha Park Chiang Rai's opening hours and entrance fee?

It opens daily around 8:30am to 5:00pm. Entering the grounds is free and photos with the giant golden lion cost nothing — you only pay for activities, such as the farm tram at about ฿150 for adults and ฿50 for children. Prices are approximate, so check on site or on the park's page before you go.

Can I bring young children to Singha Park?

Yes. The grounds are paved slopes and wide lawns that roll easily with a stroller, and there is a farm tram if little legs get tired. Toddlers love feeding the giraffes and zebras — just keep an adult close by when you are near the animals.

How does feeding the giraffes work?

Buy a bag of bananas or carrots the park provides for about ฿20 and hold it up at the feeding point while the giraffe reaches down. Feeding runs in timed sessions, so ask staff about the times first, and only feed the animals the park's food rather than your own snacks.

Are the hot-air balloons available all year?

The giant balloons are the highlight of the Singha Park International Balloon Fiesta, held each year in the early part of the year (typically February) — they are not up every day. If you want to see the balloons, check the event dates on Singha Park's page before planning your trip.
