FAQ

Can I do Bang Saen as a day trip from Bangkok?

Yes — Bang Saen is about 1.5–2 hours from Bangkok and a favorite day trip for city dwellers. But to avoid the weekend traffic on the way back and enjoy an evening stroll, one overnight is more comfortable, with beachfront and back-lane stays at a range of budgets.

Can you swim at Bang Saen Beach?

Yes — Bang Saen is a long sandy beach with shallow water for swimming, deck chairs and umbrellas for hire and seafront seafood. The water is not as clear as the southern seas but it is convenient and close to Bangkok; on weekends it is crowded, so arrive early to get a spot.

What is there at Laem Tan and Khao Sam Muk?

Laem Tan is the rocky cape at the north end of Bang Saen Beach, with viewpoints and restaurants, and nearby Khao Sam Muk has a shrine and a troop of monkeys with fine views over the bay — a good stop for photos and an evening bite, though watch your belongings around the monkeys.
