Short answer: Khao Takiab is Hua Hin’s southern beach zone (about 6 km from town), quieter and more beachfront than the center. To be on the sand near Cicada Market stay on Khao Takiab Beach; for views and the landmark head to the headland (the temple and Monkey Mountain); for markets and food pick Nong Kae; and for the quietest stay, Khao Tao–Suan Son to the south.

FAQ

How is Khao Takiab different from central Hua Hin?

Khao Takiab is about 6 km south of Hua Hin, with a quieter, more beachfront setting and fewer crowds and vendors, good for a calm beach — but shops and the night market are not within walking distance as they are in town. Songthaews run into the center regularly; if you mainly want walking and shopping, the town center is handier.

Can you swim at Khao Takiab Beach?

Yes — Khao Takiab Beach has fine white sand and shallow, gently sloping water, good for swimming and for children, with several beachfront resorts. In the monsoon (late in the year) the wind and waves pick up, so check the flags and sea conditions first.

What is there to do at Khao Takiab?

There is the hilltop Wat Khao Takiab, where you can pay respects and enjoy sea views (watch your belongings around the monkeys); Cicada Market and the Hua Hin floating market near Nong Kae open on weekends with food and crafts; and to the south, Khao Tao–Suan Son has small quiet beaches and a fishing village to explore.
