Where to stay in Koh Larn

Short answer: Koh Larn is the island off Pattaya, with clearer water than the mainland. The main beach is Tawaen (where boats dock — lively, lots of activities); for quiet choose Samae on the west; Tien/Nual are the calmest with lovely water. Most people day-trip, but staying overnight gives you the quiet island after the day boats leave.

FAQ

Which Koh Larn beach should I stay on?

Tawaen is most convenient — boats dock there and it has the most food and rooms — but it is busy by day. For quiet, choose Samae or Tien, which are calmer with lovely water. Staying overnight gives you the peaceful island once the day boats return to the mainland.

How do I get to Koh Larn from Pattaya?

Take a passenger ferry from Pattaya’s Bali Hai pier to Tawaen or Na Ban beach, about 45 minutes, or a faster speedboat in 15–20 minutes. Ferries are cheap with several departures a day; the last one back is in the evening, so check times if you stay over.

Is it worth staying overnight on Koh Larn?

Worth it if you like quiet — the island buzzes with day-trippers, but once the boats leave in the evening it becomes very calm, good for a beach walk at sunset and a seafood dinner. There are around 30–50 guesthouses and small resorts.
