Where to stay in Trang

Short answer: Trang is known for its food (dim sum, roast pork) and pretty islands. Staying in Trang town is best if you want the food and onward transport, near the train station. For a mainland beach go to Pak Meng (island views and a tour pier); for the real island feel cross to Koh Ngai, Koh Mook or Koh Kradan with their white sand and clear water.

FAQ

Trang — stay in town or by the sea?

It depends on your style. For dim sum and onward train travel, the town is convenient and cheaper. For the sea, cross straight to Koh Ngai, Koh Mook or Koh Kradan so you get the beaches morning and evening.

Which Trang island is best for a first visit?

Koh Ngai is the easiest first island — white sand, clear water, resorts at a range of prices, and close to the other islands for day trips. Koh Kradan is quieter with a beautiful beach, ideal if you mainly want to relax.

Who is Pak Meng best for?

It suits people who want to be on the mainland but near the sea, without staying on an island. Pak Meng is a long beach with island views and the main pier for day tours — good for families and those driving themselves.
