Andamanda opened in 2022 on a site of more than 100,000 square metres in Kathu. Its signature is the theming, built around Andaman Sea legend — the Naga serpent, coral and pearls — so you photograph pretty scenery while you swim. Kids like it because the rides come in several intensity levels and you can pick by age, while parents like that everything sits in one place, with restaurants, shaded seating and lifeguards on duty throughout.
Highlights for kids
The park is split into five main zones, each with a different style of ride. Little ones stick to the shallow areas, older kids and teens move up to the slides, and parents can drift around the lazy river. These are the spots families tend to love most.
- Coral World kids' zone — a shallow lagoon made for younger children, with mini slides, fountains and spray jets to play in. The water stays shallow, so it is easy to relax here.
- Great Andaman Bay wave pool — a large wave pool that pushes out waves in sets, much like swimming in the sea. It suits older kids and adults (younger children should wear a life vest with an adult close by).
- Rolling Ripples lazy river — a roughly 550-metre lazy river, the longest in Phuket. Float gently on a ring past jungle scenery and a mock waterfall; kids can ride along with a parent.
- Naga Jungle thrill slides — the high-energy zone, with rides like the six-lane Racing Naga and enclosed tube slides. Best for older kids and teens who meet the height requirement.
- Pearl Palace indoor zone — a nicely styled indoor area with rest corners and dining, handy for a break out of the sun or rain during the day.
What to pack for a fun day with kids
Arrive around the 10:00 opening to play before it gets busy and before the sun is at its harshest. Bring swimwear, a child's life vest (the park lends them, but your own usually fits better), waterproof sunscreen, non-slip water shoes and a change of clothes. Many rides have a height limit, so check the height sign at each ride before letting your child on.
Before you go
- Opening hours — open daily, roughly 10:00–19:00 (check the website or their page first, as hours can shift on some low-season days).
- Approximate admission — adults (122 cm and taller) around ฿1,800, children (91–121 cm) around ฿1,200, and children under 90 cm enter free. Booking online or through the app is usually noticeably cheaper than the gate price.
- Getting there — in Kathu, in the centre of the island, about 15–20 minutes from Patong and around 30–45 minutes from Phuket Town or the airport. Take a taxi or Grab, or drive yourself; parking is available.
- Which ages it suits — all ages. Younger children stick to the shallow Coral World zone, while older kids from around 8 who meet the height limit can start on the bigger slides.
Safety and getting your money's worth
A plus for families is that this is a pure water park — there are no animal shows or animals to photograph, so there is no animal-welfare concern to weigh up and you can just enjoy the water. Lifeguards are stationed around the park, but parents should still stay close to younger children and use a life vest in the wave pool. Admission is on the high side, so to get your money's worth, plan on a full day and book tickets online in advance for a better rate than the gate.
