Black Mountain Water Park is a large water park in the Black Mountain area, about 15 minutes from Hua Hin town, and it has been open since 2011. What families like about it is that several levels of ride sit in one place — from the wave pool and slides for older kids to a shallow, not-too-deep pool for toddlers. Children can happily fill most of a day here, and parents can find a spot to rest by the poolside.
Highlights for kids
The rides are spread across different levels of thrill, from gentle shallow pools up to the waves and slides that are more fun — and safer — once kids are a bit older. Take a walk around first, then pick the zones that suit your child's age; you'll cover more of the park and feel more at ease.
- Wave pool — it can push out waves up to nearly 2 metres, one of the bigger wave pools in Thailand. Older kids who can swim tend to love it, while younger ones are better off near the edge where the waves are gentler.
- 9 different slides — a slide tower around 17 metres high, from easy, gentle chutes to steeper ones like the Black Wave. Most are kid-friendly, but check the height and age signs on each slide.
- Lazy river — grab a tube and drift slowly around the loop; a good way to rest tired legs and something the whole family can enjoy together.
- Toddler pool zone — a separate shallow pool for little ones, not deep, with small water jets to play in — suited to toddlers with an adult watching.
- Wibit inflatable park — a floating obstacle course to climb and jump on, best for older kids who can swim and want a challenge.
Tips for bringing kids
Come prepared with swimwear, sunscreen, towels, and non-slip water shoes. The midday sun in Hua Hin is fairly strong, so arriving near opening time lets kids play before the crowds and avoid the harshest sun. A life jacket gives peace of mind for younger children — you can borrow one at the park.
Before you go
- Opening hours — open roughly 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closing times can differ from day to day, so it's worth checking the venue's page or calling ahead (tel. 032-618444).
- Approximate fees — around 600 THB for adults and 300 THB for children; kids under 110 cm tall get in free. In the evening (roughly after 4:00 p.m.) it often drops to about 300 THB for adults and 150 THB for children (prices are approximate; booking online via Klook/Trip is usually cheaper than the gate).
- Getting there — it's about 15 minutes from Hua Hin town; self-driving or taking a taxi / hired car is easiest. Just drop a pin on "Black Mountain Water Park" in Google Maps.
- Suitable ages — good for all ages; little ones stick to the shallow zone, while older kids who can swim get the most out of the wave pool, slides, and Wibit.
Safety and value
There are lifeguards on duty, but the waves in the pool are fairly strong, so parents should stay close to children — especially in the wave pool — and not leave younger kids on their own. The entry price is mid-range; if you come for the whole day and use everything, it works out fair value, and booking tickets online ahead saves a little more.
