Hotels near
Sai Tai Mai

The New Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) is where you catch long-distance coaches to the south and west — Hua Hin, Krabi, Phuket, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Chumphon, Surat Thani. Plenty of those buses leave at dawn or arrive late, so people want a bed nearby before they ride. The honest picture, though, is that this is a semi-suburban part of Thonburi: the terminal sits at the far western end of Borommaratchachonnani Road on the Chimphli side of Taling Chan, and right around it you'll mostly find daily-rate apartments and small homestays. The real, bookable hotels cluster around Pinklao and Bang Phlat, about 4–7 km out, so you'll take a Grab or taxi for roughly 10–15 minutes. None of them run a shuttle to the terminal, so leave time to flag a car in the small hours. Below are places we checked are real and genuinely bookable on Agoda, Booking and Trip.com, with honest distances to Sai Tai Mai, ordered cheapest to priciest.

FAQ

Is there any hotel within walking distance of Sai Tai Mai?

Practically none. The terminal sits at the far western end of Borommaratchachonnani Road on the Chimphli side of Taling Chan, surrounded by main roads, daily-rate apartments and small homestays rather than a walkable strip. The hotels you can actually book online cluster around Pinklao and Bang Phlat, about 4–7 km out, so you'll take a Grab or taxi for roughly 10–16 minutes. None of them run a shuttle to the terminal, so leave time to flag a car in the small hours.

How do I get to the terminal for a pre-dawn or late-night bus?

The surest way is a Grab or taxi — from the Pinklao–Bang Phlat area it's about 10–15 minutes and only a few tens to just over a hundred baht. In the small hours there are fewer cars about, so allow a little buffer. If you stay near the MRT Blue Line (Bang Yi Khan / Bang Khun Non), like Cana or Charlie House, the train is handy for getting into the city, but the MRT doesn't run all the way to the bus terminal, so that last leg is still by car.

I'm on a budget and want one night before a dawn bus — what should I pick?

For the cheapest, Yaks House Hostel starts around 450 THB (it has small private rooms too) and Visa Hotel is about 600 THB with free parking and breakfast — both roughly 5–6 km from the terminal. For a proper hotel with a pool and breakfast, look at Charlie House Pinklao at about 950 THB or S.D. Avenue at about 1,400 THB. And if you want a genuine 4-star night and a full rest, choose The Royal City at about 1,600 THB. All of them mean a Grab to the terminal yourself — none run a shuttle.
