Honest heads-up before the ranking: Krabi's cafe scene changes fast. Some beachside and hilltop spots shift their hours with the tourist season, and a few close on weekdays. This list sticks to places that have been around a while, have a real storefront, and get steady genuine reviews. We've split them into 3 groups: karst-view cafes · specialty roasters in Krabi Town · and beachside spots at Ao Nang. All prices are rough ranges per cup or per person — double-check the venue's page before you go, since hours and menus change often.
Karst-view crowd — hilltop and cliffside cafes
Krabi's signature is the limestone cliffs that shoot straight up from flat ground, and this group of cafes leans into that view hard — hilltop spots looking out over Phang Nga Bay with karst islands lined up, and places with green cliffs right behind them. Most are outside the town center, so you'll want your own vehicle or a rental.
Khaothong Hill
A cafe-restaurant on Khao Thong hill with a wide-open view over Phang Nga Bay and a row of karst islands. Locals rate it one of the best sunset spots in Krabi. There's a shuttle up and down from the car park, and an entry fee that gets credited against your food bill. The menu covers coffee, Western food and Thai dishes. It's out in the Khao Thong area, a fair drive from Ao Nang, so budget extra time on the road.
C'MORE Mount Bar
An Ao Nang-area cafe with a lush green limestone cliff right behind it as a clear backdrop. Open, airy feel, leaning on wood tones and black — comfortable for a midday stop over coffee, tea or a fruit drink. Plenty of people still know it by its old name, Hub Cafe. The cliff view is the main draw.
Baan Ton Mai Cafe
An Ao Nang-area cafe tucked among big trees and a little stream, so you get natural shade plus the limestone cliffs around it. Cool and leafy, a real break from the roadside spots. There are main dishes, desserts and drinks, and it suits anyone who wants to chill in a garden setting without driving far up a hill.
Before driving up to the hill cafes
Hilltop spots like Khaothong Hill are outside town, and the last stretch is an uphill climb — drive slowly and arrive about an hour before sunset to grab a seat by the view. Weekend evenings get very crowded. In the rainy season (May–Oct) the view can get hidden by cloud, but you trade that for fresher green cliffs and fewer people.

Specialty-coffee crowd — Krabi Town
Krabi Town itself (the Pak Nam area, Maharaj Road) is where serious coffee people should stop, because there are places that roast their own beans and make real specialty coffee, not just photo cafes. You can cafe-hop several spots within a short walk, and prices tend to be friendlier than in the tourist zones.
Café 8.98
A specialty coffee shop that foreigners living in Krabi rate near the top. Loft-industrial space, strong on espresso and an in-house roast — the house blend mixes Thai, Lao, Brazilian and Guatemalan beans for a soft chocolatey cup. There's a slow bar doing V60 drip and manual espresso. It has a branch in Krabi Town (Maharaj Road) plus the original branch in Ao Nang, and the breakfast-brunch is good too.
Much & Mellow Krabi Town
One of the longest-running coffee shops in Krabi, going since 1990. They roast their own beans in-house, sourced both in Thailand and abroad. It's grown to several branches now — in town, in front of an Ao Nang hotel, and on Ao Nang beach. The town branch suits anyone who wants serious coffee in a relaxed setting, no photo-spot focus.
COCONO Coffee Bar by Dolla
A small family-run coffee bar in Krabi Town. The owner, Dolla, brews everything herself with real care, using locally roasted beans and leaning on reusable and recycled cups. Good for anyone who prefers a small, warm spot where you actually chat with the person making your coffee, over a bigger place.
Easy Café
A cafe near Chao Fah Pier in Krabi Town that's been around a long time and still leads on friendly coffee prices. The americano is great value, and reviewers single out the breakfast, especially the egg dishes. A good stop before catching a boat to the islands or starting your day without blowing the budget.
Botany Cafe & Eatery
A green, plant-themed cafe-restaurant in Krabi Town, bright and easy on the eyes, good for working or meeting friends. There's coffee, drinks and main dishes. A solid in-town option if you want both the atmosphere and roomy seating.
Tip for in-town coffee people
Self-roasting spots like Café 8.98 and Much & Mellow sell fresh-roasted beans to take home — a better souvenir than most snacks. If you want to taste the difference, order a single-origin drip and ask the barista where the beans are from. Some small shops still take cash only, so keep a bit on hand.
Beachside crowd — the Ao Nang area
The Ao Nang side is the main tourist zone, and cafes here lean on beachfront location and brunch more than serious coffee. Prices usually run higher than in town because it's a tourist area, but you get the sea view and the karst cliffs out in the bay thrown in.
Much & Mellow Aloha (Ao Nang beachfront)
The beachfront branch of Much & Mellow, added in the Ao Nang area — their self-roasted coffee in a seaside setting, looking out over the beach and longtail boats. Good for a morning cup or late afternoon before sunset. A choice that gets you both good coffee and a sea view in one spot.
Sweet & Sour Ice Cream & Dessert Cafe
A quirky-looking Ao Nang cafe split into several zones with lots of photo corners. It's strong on ice cream and a range of desserts, and there's coffee and food too. Good for the dessert crowd and photo people after fun shots. We're closing the list with a spot that doesn't just sell coffee — it sells atmosphere and sweets.
How to pick the cafe that fits your trip
Want the karst view
Head up Khaothong Hill in the evening for sunset, or stop by C'MORE Mount Bar and Baan Ton Mai around Ao Nang if you'd rather not drive far.
Serious about coffee
Go into town to Café 8.98 and Much & Mellow, both self-roasting. Try a single-origin drip, then buy beans to take home.
Pre-boat / budget
Easy Café and COCONO in town are friendly on price with good breakfast — a solid way to start before an island trip.
Why Krabi's cafes feel different from other towns
- Free karst views — limestone cliffs rise up in the middle of town and around Ao Nang, so plenty of cafes get a mountain backdrop without the long drive up a peak you'd need in the north.
- Clearly split by zone — town is for serious, affordable coffee, while Ao Nang is the pricier beachside-and-brunch scene. Pick by the style of your trip.
- Real roasters exist here — Café 8.98 and Much & Mellow roast their beans in-house and sell them to take home. It's not all photo cafes, the way a lot of people assume.
