7.4Highlights and sights around Krabi — nature, city and culture
Krabi's main beach and tourist hub, the center for hotels, restaurants, and the longtail boat pier. Stroll the beachfront in the evening, watch the sunset, and catch boats out to the islands from here.
A headland reached only by longtail boat, with white sand, limestone walls for climbing, and Phra Nang Cave where people leave offerings. It's a spot rock climbers fly in from around the world to try.
The classic boat route out of Ao Nang to Koh Poda, Chicken Island, Phra Nang Cave, and Talay Waek, where the tide drops and you can walk across the sandbars linking the islands. It's the province's most popular day trip.
The big islands within Krabi. Koh Phi Phi has Maya Bay and clear green water for snorkeling over coral, while Koh Lanta is quieter, with long beaches and an easygoing feel that suits staying several nights.
A mountaintop temple reached by climbing over a thousand steps to pay respects at the summit, with views of Krabi town and limestone karsts in every direction. People climb it for the merit and the view without fail.
In the Khao Phanom Bencha forest there's an emerald-green pool fed by a natural spring to soak in, plus a hot waterfall running over warm rocks. It's a forest nature spot, a change from the seaside.

Krabi's signature food — real local spots, rounded up and ranked
Right on the sea with a fishing fleet, so there's fresh shrimp, shellfish, crab, fish, and blue swimmer crab. Seafood spots in town and along Ao Nang do it grilled, steamed, stir-fried with curry powder, and in tom yum.
Gaeng tai pla, yellow curry, khua kling, and pad sataw kung, eaten with hot rice and fresh raw veggies. It's the local everyday meal you can find all over town.
A popular breakfast: rice noodles with bold southern nam ya curry, eaten with all sorts of raw veggies like yardlong beans, pennywort, and cashew shoots. The khanom jeen shops open early.
Rice tossed with budu sauce, shredded veggies, toasted coconut, and dried shrimp, sour-salty-sweet all in one plate. It's a light meal southerners eat regularly.
Krabi has a large Muslim community, and roti–cha chak shops are open from morning to late night. The roti is crisp outside and soft inside, eaten with curry or drizzled with milk, with hot pulled tea on the side.
Rice-and-curry shops in town ladle several southern dishes over rice — chicken curry, yellow curry, and stir-fried chili — a quick lunch for working locals.
The morning market has local eats and fruit, while the weekend walking street has street food, traditional sweets, and grilled seafood to graze on.
Around town and along Ao Nang there are laid-back cafes with views of the limestone karsts. Many brew fresh coffee from local beans, an easy spot to stop for a cup during the day.
