Thailand has long been known for welcoming travelers of every kind. In the main cities and tourist neighborhoods, being LGBTQ+ is barely an issue — hotels, restaurants, and nightlife venues are all welcoming. The big turning point is the Marriage Equality Act, which came into effect on 23 January 2025, allowing same-sex couples to register a legal marriage. Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia to do so.

A seaside city with a diverse community and plenty of nightlife, easy to reach from Bangkok. It has its own Pride event and famous cabaret shows.
Island + PartyPhuket — Patong
The Patong area has a friendly nightlife scene, great for combining a beach trip with a fun atmosphere.
Chill + CafésChiang Mai

Pride Events Through the Year
Bangkok Pride is the largest Pride parade, held during June (Pride Month) on the city's main streets, with a parade plus a week of activities. There are also Pride events in Pattaya and Phuket, and during Songkran (April) there are LGBTQ+ parties that draw people from all over the world. Check the dates again for the year you're going, since schedules can change.
