Of all the two-MICHELIN-star restaurants in Bangkok, Baan Tepa is probably the most literal "house" of them all — because this really is the family home of Chef Chudaree "Tam" Debhakam, converted into a fine-dining space on Ramkhamhaeng Road. Chef Tam's own story is worth telling on its own — she's the winner of Top Chef Thailand and a former sous chef at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, the legendary farm-restaurant in America. That experience became the restaurant's DNA: cooking with what she grows with her own hands. The MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026 confirms her skill with a full two stars, plus a Green Star for sustainability — not awarded for a trend, but earned through Tepa Garden, the backyard garden that genuinely supplies heritage vegetables and rare Thai herbs to the kitchen every day.
The dish that has become the restaurant's signature is White Lotus — dozens of pieces of vegetables, from jicama to lotus root to enoki mushrooms, cut and arranged in layers so precise it looks like looking through a kaleidoscope. It's a dish that sums up the whole identity of the place — vegetables from their own soil, handled with the kind of precision that takes real time to cut piece by piece. The 7-course tasting menu runs THB 6,200++ (about THB 7,298 paid in practice including service and tax), served dinner only, Wednesday through Sunday, with three seatings a day at 18:00 / 19:00 / 20:00, plus a private Garden Wing room for anyone planning a special occasion, at a minimum of THB 5,500 per person. Worth knowing before you book: the restaurant is fairly strict about the menu — it can't be adjusted to vegetarian, vegan, or a dairy-free/gluten-free version, and it only accepts children aged 12 and up.
But the biggest thing to know right now is that the house is currently closed for renovation. The last service before closing was 2 May 2026, and it's scheduled to reopen around 26 August 2026. In the meantime, Chef Tam hasn't gone anywhere — she's taken her team to run a pop-up called "Past • Present • Future" at F.V Sukhumvit 39 from 22 July to 2 August 2026, at a lighter price of THB 4,500++ (about THB 5,297 net), open Wednesday through Sunday, two seatings a day at 17:00 and 20:00. If you can't wait, this is the only window this summer to taste her food. And if you're the type who believes good things are worth waiting for, you can mark the newly renovated Baan Tepa for late August as your next milestone.
Baan Tepa
First things first: Baan Tepa is temporarily closed for renovation, from after 2 May 2026, and is expected to reopen around 26 August 2026 — don't call a car to Ramkhamhaeng just yet. If you want to taste Chef Tam's cooking while you wait, look to the pop-up at F.V Sukhumvit 39 from 22 Jul–2 Aug 2026 (Wed–Sun, seatings at 17:00 and 20:00), priced at THB 4,500++ or about THB 5,297 net, booked via LINE @BAANTEPA or WhatsApp +66 98 696 9074
For regular service once it reopens, budget THB 6,200++ per person (about THB 7,298 paid in practice) for the 7-course tasting menu, dinner Wednesday–Sunday, seatings at 18:00 / 19:00 / 20:00. Booking runs through TableCheck, which opens a 60-day advance window; solo diners should email reservation@baantepabkk.com instead of booking online. Key rules to know: children 12 and up only, and there's no vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free option. Getting there is the part to plan for — the Ramkhamhaeng/Bang Kapi area has no nearby train line, so a taxi or Grab is the only convenient answer. Worth following the @baantepabkk page, since the reopening booking date will be announced there first.
