The charm of Phatthalung's cafes is that they don't need much decorating — the nature around them is already pretty enough. Khao Ok Thalu, with the hole bored clean through the middle of the mountain, is the province's icon and visible from plenty of angles around town. Head just outside town and you hit the wide rice fields of Khuan Khanun and Khao Chaison, while over on the Lampam side there's Songkhla Lake to sit and catch the breeze. We've made it clear which spots are in town and easy to drop into, and which ones take a bit of a drive but reward you with a full view of the rice fields and Khao Ok Thalu.
10 Phatthalung cafes we recommend
We've ordered this list to make it easy to picture. It starts with the rice-field and Khao Ok Thalu view cafes that are Phatthalung's real draw, then moves through the in-town spots that are easy to drop into, and finishes by the lake. The prices listed are rough ranges from reviews and can shift depending on what you order, and small shops may tweak their hours — so before driving far, check the shop's page for that day.
Khanam Coffee (cafe in the rice fields)
A cafe built as a khanam — a little Southern field hut — set in the middle of green paddies, looking straight out at a full view of Khao Ok Thalu. It's a shot plenty of people come specifically to take. There's fresh coffee, tea, and simple homestyle snacks. The view is at its best when the rice is green; come early or late for soft light and to beat the heat.
NAYA Cafe & Bistro
A half-farm cafe out near Khao Chaison, with rice-field views and farm animals for the kids to look at — a good one for the whole family. You can sip coffee and gaze at the paddies, and there are both drinks and proper mains if you want to make it a meal. The seating is open and catches the breeze off the fields.
Lemon Thyme Cafe
A Khao Ok Thalu view cafe that gets a lot of love on social media. They've set the seating to face out toward the mountain as a backdrop, and the space is open and easy. There's fresh coffee and cold drinks to enjoy with the view — best in the gentler light so you can capture Khao Ok Thalu clearly.
Tee Nee Phatthalung Coffee
A cafe done up in vintage wood, with the standout being the view of Khao Ok Thalu and the greenery around the shop through the windows. There's an indoor zone that stays cool and comfortable, and it's open late into the evening, so it works for both a daytime stop and the cooler hours near dusk.
Rong Khua Ban Pa (roastery)
A roastery using freshly roasted beans — you catch the aroma the moment you walk in. It's the one for coffee people who want a serious cup, with fresh-baked pastries to go alongside. The setting is leafy and shaded like being in the woods, and it's a spot locals drop by for coffee regularly.
Kafae Nai Suan Ban Phon
A cafe set in a shady garden, using Phatthalung's own coffee beans paired with local Southern sweets. The vibe is quiet and easy, like sitting in your own backyard garden — good for anyone who wants to slip away from the bustle and sip coffee slowly with Thai sweets.
The.P Cafe Talk & Tell
A specialty-coffee cafe in the town center, with several beans to choose from and house-made pastries. The atmosphere works for getting some work done, and it's a good early-morning stop before you head out. It's right in town and easy to get in and out of.
City Cafe
An in-town cafe that leans into cake — carrot cake, durian cake, and chocolate mousse. It's the one for the sweet-tooth crowd who want to sip coffee next to a big slice. Open daily and right in town, so it's an easy stop while you're wandering the old quarter.
Tasawang coffee & arch
An in-town cafe that opens at the crack of dawn — perfect for early risers who want fresh coffee before anyone else. There's homemade pizza to line your stomach, and the atmosphere is simple and easygoing with friendly prices.
Khanam Rim Le (Khanam Coffee Lampam)
A cafe on Songkhla Lake near Saen Suk Lampam Beach, in a sharply designed wooden building with a long wooden walkway running out to the water's edge. You can sit in the air-conditioned zone or in the open-air pavilions catching the breeze, looking out over the wide lake. There's coffee, cocoa, and coconut matcha, plus Southern dishes like gaeng som and khua kling if you want to make it a meal.
A tip about the rice-field views
The green paddy view is at its best while the rice is still growing, around the planting season. If you come after the harvest, the fields are brown stubble and the view looks quite different from the photos in the reviews. Before setting your heart on a cafe out in the fields for photos, check the shop's page for recent pictures to see whether the rice is still green — that way you won't be let down.

The clear split: rice-field & Khao Ok Thalu views vs. in town
If you're set on capturing Khao Ok Thalu with the rice fields, plan a bit of extra time to drive out of town — but you'll get a view the in-town spots can't match. On a day where you're keeping things tight, walking the old quarter and just wanting to rest your legs, the in-town cafes are easier to get in and out of and keep more reliable hours.

Pairing cafes with things to see
The way to make a Phatthalung trip flow is to play with the light — do the outdoor sights in the morning or late afternoon when the sun isn't harsh, and save the cafes for a midday break. Try pairing them like this.
- In town + Khao Ok Thalu — walk the old quarter, stop at City Cafe or The.P Cafe in town, then carry on to a Khao Ok Thalu view spot like Tee Nee Phatthalung Coffee.
- Khuan Khanun–Khao Chaison rice fields — head out of town toward the paddies and stop at Khanam Coffee in the fields, or NAYA Cafe with both its farm and rice-field views.
- Lampam lakeside — visit Saen Suk Lampam Beach and Thale Noi, then drop down to sit at Khanam Rim Le on Songkhla Lake and catch the cool breeze.
About paying
Most shops in Phatthalung take PromptPay transfers easily, but some spots out in the fields can have patchy signal. Carrying a bit of small cash on you is the safer bet.
