The key to doing Phuket with kids is don't pack the days too tight. Little ones stuck in a car for a long stretch get cranky fast, so we plan one big stop in the morning or afternoon and leave the rest of the day free to head back to the hotel or jump in the pool. Save dinner for an easy walk or a show. The three main stops we picked (Aquaria, Andamanda water park, and a shallow beach) are in different parts of the island, so ordering the days by direction saves a lot of time in the car.
Worth knowing before you plan
Splash Jungle water park at Mai Khao is closed for renovation from 1 Jun–30 Sep 2026 and reopens 1 Oct. During that window, if you want a water park, go to Andamanda instead (open year-round). That's why we've built this plan around Andamanda.
Day 1 — Mall aquarium + an easy Old Town stroll in the evening
Take the first day easy, no sun required. Start at Aquaria Phuket on level B1 of Central Phuket Floresta — nicely air-conditioned, and kids can happily wander the underwater tunnel watching the fish. Same mall, so lunch is right there afterward.
Aquaria + Phuket Old Town
Day 1 tip
If it rains (especially May–Oct), this day works even better since you're indoors most of the time. Leave room to drop by the Trickeye Museum (Old Town, open 10:00–19:00, adults ฿500, kids ฿250) or the Upside Down House near town — both are fun for kid photos.
Book the activities in your Phuket trip ahead
Booking online ahead on Klook or GetYourGuide is usually cheaper than the gate and skips the queue. Pick only the experiences you actually want — prices and availability are shown live on each site.
Day 2 — A full day at Andamanda water park
Today is all about the water park. Andamanda Phuket sits around Kathu, on the way to Patong, open every day 10:00–19:00 year-round. It has the Andamanda Bay wave pool, the Little Reef toddler area with low, safe slides, and a lazy river for drifting around. We'd give it the whole day to get your money's worth out of the ticket.

What to pack for the water park
Kids' life jackets / arm floats (the park lends some but may run short when it's busy), kids' sunscreen, hats, sun shirts, and towels. There are lockers to rent for your stuff.
Day 3 — Shallow beach in the morning + an evening show
Keep the last day relaxed. Head to a beach with a gentle shallow slope in the morning so the kids can play in the sand and water safely, then close out the trip with an evening show. Picking a beach close to your hotel is the way to go — we'd choose one with calm surf and umbrellas to rent.
Kata Beach
Gently sloping with calm surf most of the year (the dry season Dec–Apr is best for swimming). Loungers and umbrellas to rent, food nearby — good with kids.
Nai Yang Beach
A quiet beach near the airport; the right-hand side shelves gently into shallow water, good for little ones. Pine trees for shade, and a local favourite.
Rawai Beach
Very shallow and calm with few crowds, ideal for kids to paddle near the shore. Fresh seafood restaurants right by the beach.
Shallow beach + evening show
Which show, which day
Carnival Magic runs Mon/Wed/Fri, while Phuket FantaSea runs Tue/Sat/Sun. Match it to your trip dates before buying tickets. Little ones may get sleepy during the late show, so bring some snacks and a layer for the air-conditioning.
Rough budget per family (two parents + one child)
- Aquaria Phuket — around ฿450–700/person (kids cheaper), roughly ฿1,200–1,800 for the family
- Andamanda water park — adults around ฿1,600, kids around ฿1,100, roughly ฿4,300 total (less if you book via the app/online)
- Beach — free; lounger and umbrella rental around ฿100–200/set
- Evening show — from around ฿1,600/person (buffet seats around ฿2,500), roughly ฿4,800+ for the family
- Car / taxi — Phuket has no good public transport, so renting a car with a child seat or using a ride-hailing app is best; budget around ฿800–1,500 a day
These are approximate prices for early 2026. Ticket prices shift with promotions and high/low season, so check the official websites or booking platforms again before you go — especially opening hours and which days the shows run.
Getting around Phuket with kids
Phuket is a big island with no convenient public transport, and the beaches, malls, and water park are 30–60 minutes apart. Renting a car with a child seat or hiring a driver by the day gives you far better control over timing and your kids' safety than calling a ride for each leg.
