Where to stay in
Bang Na

Bang Na sits at the eastern end of Sukhumvit, a mix of business, exhibitions, and residential blocks. Most people stay here for a specific reason: an event or conference at the BITEC centre, shopping at Central Bangna or Mega Bangna, or a base that reaches Suvarnabhumi Airport quickly without fighting central traffic. The area is on the BTS Sukhumvit line at Bang Na and Udom Suk stations — you can ride into town, but it takes longer than from the centre, so many hotels offset this with free shuttles to BITEC, the BTS, and nearby malls. Rooms here cost less than inner Sukhumvit and tend to be larger for the same money.

FAQ

Is it easy to reach Suvarnabhumi Airport from Bang Na?

Yes — Bang Na is on the eastern side of Bangkok, near the route to Suvarnabhumi, so a car or taxi takes roughly 20–30 minutes when traffic is light. That's one of the area's main draws: travellers with early or late flights often base here to avoid heading into the city.

Is it hard to get into central Bangkok from Bang Na?

You can, but it takes longer than from the centre. Bang Na is on the BTS Sukhumvit line at Bang Na and Udom Suk stations, so you ride straight to Asok or Siam with no line change — but it's far down the line, so plan on around 30–40 minutes. Driving in rush hour means heavy traffic, which is why many hotels offer a BTS shuttle.

Which hotel should I pick for an event at BITEC?

If you want to walk to the venue, Thomson Residence is the closest (about 500 metres), while Cubic Bangna and Brighton are a 5–10 minute walk. For an international-chain standard with a multi-stop shuttle, Novotel Bangkok Bangna works well. Many hotels here run a free BITEC shuttle, and during big events you should book well ahead.
