Where to stay in
Central Ladprao

Ha Yaek Lat Phrao is the junction where Phahon Yothin, Lat Phrao, and Vibhavadi Rangsit roads meet, and one of the few spots in Bangkok where the BTS (Ha Yaek Lat Phrao, Green Line) and the MRT (Phahon Yothin, Blue Line) cross. From here you ride straight to Siam, Asok, or Bang Sue Grand Station. The area is built around shopping and transit: CentralPlaza Ladprao is the main mall, with Union Mall across the road for cheaper, youth-focused shops. Chatuchak Park, the Railway Park, and Chatuchak itself are a short walk or one stop away, with the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market just up near Mo Chit. Hotels here cover a wide range, from hostels and small properties in the lower Lat Phrao sois to the Centara Grand wired directly into the mall. It's a good fit if you want an easy line-change location near the malls without staying in a tourist zone.

FAQ

Is Ha Yaek Lat Phrao good for changing trains and getting around?

Very much so, because this is where the BTS Green Line (Ha Yaek Lat Phrao) meets the MRT Blue Line (Phahon Yothin). The BTS takes you straight down to Siam and Silom, while the MRT runs to Asok, Hua Lamphong, and Bang Sue Grand Station. Don Muang Airport is a short ride away via the MRT connection or by road, and for Suvarnabhumi you transfer to the Airport Rail Link.

Is this a good area for shoppers, and what's within walking distance?

It's excellent for it, with two big malls on opposite sides of the road. CentralPlaza Ladprao is the main mall, with full brands and a supermarket, while Union Mall across the way leans toward cheaper, youth-focused clothing shops. Chatuchak is a walk or one stop away, and the huge Chatuchak Weekend Market, open Saturdays and Sundays, sits a stop further up near Mo Chit.

How does staying at Ha Yaek Lat Phrao compare to Sukhumvit?

Ha Yaek Lat Phrao is more of a local, office-driven area, with rooms that usually cost a bit less than Sukhumvit star-for-star, plus a two-line train interchange and malls right by the stations. The trade-off is less of the expat-bar nightlife and international dining you get on Sukhumvit, with the focus more on malls and Thai food. It's a good fit for shoppers, frequent line-changers, or anyone wanting better value than the main tourist zone.
